Objective
Take a leadership role in shaping the pricing and market access strategy for the Japan Oncology Business Unit (JOBU), ensuring that innovative therapies reach patients while maximizing the value of our portfolio.
Develop and execute high-impact strategies to secure optimal drug pricing approvals for JOBU’s pipeline assets, in-market products, and potential business development (BD) opportunities.
Act as a key strategic partner to internal stakeholders by providing deep market access insights that drive critical business decisions.
Proactively shape the external environment by engaging with industry stakeholders, and global teams to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape.
Responsibility
Strategic Market Access
Drive the development and execution of JOBU’s market access strategy to enable sustainable growth and long-term success for JOBU’s oncology portfolio.
Provide strategic insights to Japan Development, commercial. New Product Planning, and Finance teams, supporting pipeline and product planning with robust pricing strategies.
Anticipate and influence changes in Japan’s healthcare and reimbursement policies, ensuring that Takeda remains at the forefront of the industry by closely working with JPBU’s Market Access and Pricing team.
Collaborate with global and Japan pricing and access teams to proactively address drug pricing system reforms and secure a competitive reimbursement framework.
Pricing & Market Access Excellence
Lead the pricing strategy and value assessment for new products, BD assets, and lifecycle management, ensuring that all pricing decisions are data-driven and aligned with Takeda’s mid-/long-term vision.
Manage and optimize pricing assumptions and market access strategies for both pipeline and in-market products.
Spearhead launch excellence from a pricing and market access perspective, ensuring seamless execution and successful market entry.
Oversee pricing negotiations with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) and ensure the successful submission and approval of NHI pricing by closely working with JPBU.
Drive strategic responses to Health Technology Assessment (HTA) requirements, positioning Takeda Oncology as a leader in value-based healthcare by working with JPBU
Build strong cross-functional collaboration with Global PVPA and JPBU’s pricing & market access team and distribution team to execute seamless market access strategies.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Educational Background
A minimum of a BA/BS degree in business, marketing, a scientific discipline, or a related field is required.
An MBA or a relevant master’s degree is preferred
Professional Background and Expertise
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence, lead, negotiate, and collaborate effectively across all levels within a matrixed, multicultural environment, fostering a strong commitment to Diversity & Inclusion.
Experience in Pricing & Market Access or policy-shaping activities within the oncology field, and/or distribution management field.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative assessments of complex strategic initiatives.
A minimum of 5+ years of professional experience, or at least 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry.
Languages
Japanese: Native Level
English: Business-level proficiency in both written and spoken English is "preferred" to effectively collaborate with global teams .

Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year
Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45
Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
