4 Reasons Candidates Are Joining Team Takeda
We’re dedicated to ensuring a great candidate experience, from interview prep to the final rounds. That’s why we asked new team members what influenced their decision to join us. Based on the highlights from their experiences, here are four motivators that led them here.
1.) Patient-centric culture. Tom Spalding, Head of Global Oncology Products, Pipeline and Strategy, had always admired our legacy, so when a recruiter reached out, he was quick to respond—even though he wasn’t actively job hunting. “The things I had heard about Takeda’s culture of patient centricity, ethics and collaboration were in line with my priorities, so that got me in the door,” says Tom. For Tom, the people you meet during the interview process play a key role in whether a company can attract top talent. “In this case, I had two amazing people who were my advocates and convinced me this was the right organization.”
2.) Flexible career development. Leah Smith, Manager, Advanced Analytics, Plasma-Derived Therapies (PDT) Insights & Analytics, joined our Analytics Leadership Development Program (ALDP) right after graduate school. While exploring other rotational programs, Leah noticed they all had rigid development tracks. “What I like about Takeda is the flexibility to make the experience your own by choosing the team and business unit,” says Leah. Early in her career, Leah values making independent choices.
3.) Impactful work. Jack Guerrier, Director, Product Management, was actively seeking his next opportunity when Takeda appeared on his LinkedIn feed. Although our organization wasn’t initially on his radar, Jack learned of a town hall where a patient shared how one of our medicines had positively impacted their life during his interview conversations, which truly caught his attention. Reflecting on his experience in information technology within research and development, Jack had often felt that his work was distant from the end product that directly benefits people. "My interview conversations connected the dots between how the work at Takeda impacts patients, which spoke to me."
4.) Transparent conversations. Thomas valued the transparency of everyone he met during the interview process. “I was told, ‘Here’s some things you may not love when you walk in the door,’” says Thomas. Rather than being put off by the obstacles he was made aware of in the role, Thomas viewed them as gifts. “I also think it’s a gift for Takeda to know the candidate is going to come in and be motivated by these things, not scared off.”
The insights shared by #TeamTakeda underscore our commitment to making the job search process as meaningful as possible. Make the most of this helpful information and change our impact for the better by exploring open roles.
