About the role:
The Head of Internal Communications (Director) will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive internal engagement strategy for Takeda Oncology. This role is critical in shaping and delivering programs that reflect our purpose-driven culture, scientific innovation, and unwavering commitment to patients. This leader will craft and implement strategic communications plans that inform, inspire, and engage employees across the organization—ensuring clarity of direction, alignment on priorities, and a strong sense of connection to our mission. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Head of Internal Communications will provide expert counsel and thought leadership, helping leaders communicate with authenticity and impact. The role will also collaborate across the enterprise to amplify oncology-related content, ensure consistency in messaging, and support key enterprise-wide initiatives.
How you will contribute:
Develop and execute internal communications strategy that fosters employee engagement, supports business priorities, and reinforces Takeda Oncology's purpose, values, and culture across functions and geographies.
Draft compelling, authentic stories and content that highlight the impact of our oncology work, commitment to patients, and employee contributions—bringing our mission to life across internal channels.
Act as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders, partnering with them to develop clear, inspiring, and transparent messages.
Lead content strategy and execution across internal channels and events, ensuring consistency, clarity, and relevance.
Collaborate with the Takeda corporate communications team to ensure communications are aligned with enterprise-wide initiatives and amplify key oncology content and thought leadership.
Serve as internal communications lead during change initiatives or crisis situations. Deliver timely, clear, and empathetic messaging.
Establish and track metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications. Leverage insights and employee feedback to continuously optimize content, channels, and strategy.
Champion the use of digital tools and emerging technologies to modernize internal communications, enhance employee experience, and increase reach and effectiveness.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and learning, leveraging best practices, insights, and feedback to optimize effectiveness and impact of communications.
Act as a role model for Takeda's values and leadership behaviors, promoting a strong team culture as well as diversity, inclusion, and empowerment.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Majors in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or English preferred.
15+ years of professional experience required at a corporation or consultancy with expertise in internal, corporate, product or international communications. Directly relevant, external experience a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required as well as strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively manage budget and resources needed.
Strategic planning and results oriented execution are needed.
Ability to negotiate and form consensus among various parties important.
10% travel, mostly international.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$174,500.00 - $274,230.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
