Job Description
Role Overview:
The Operational Excellence Champion is responsible for identifying, analysing, and enhancing business processes to achieve organisational goals. This role focuses on reducing costs, defects, and rework while improving product and service quality, as well as customer satisfaction. By introducing new methods, sharing best practices, and driving Lean, Six Sigma, and AGILE initiatives under Takeda’s OpEx program, the Champion supports Takeda’s mission of bringing better health to people and a brighter future to the world.
How You Will Contribute:
- Identify improvement opportunities in Value Streams and Support Functions.
- Plan and implement process improvements to reduce costs and errors.
- Deploy Operational Excellence (AGILE) programs across sites and functions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Lead transformative projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and AGILE principles to deliver measurable performance gains.
- Ensure timely and complete execution of Lean/OpEx projects.
- Apply industry-standard Lean & OpEx methods and techniques in all improvement initiatives.
- Introduce new methods to enhance product/service quality and customer satisfaction.
- Promote and share best practices across the organization.
- Manage projects and processes independently with limited supervision.
- Act as an advisor to employees based on established policies.
- Coach AGILE concepts, Lean principles, and continuous improvement behaviors across all organizational levels.
- Support the creation and execution of site roadmaps detailing OpEx activities for the fiscal year.
- Participate actively in Communities of Practice, sharing best practices and learning from global networks.
- Collaborate with the wider Global Agile community in training, knowledge-sharing sessions, and Communities of Practice.
General Responsibilities:
- Drive and promote the corporate values of Takeda-ism within the workplace.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness in cooperation with other Takeda staff.
- Ensure timely completion of Accident Reports following any event.
- Complete all required SOP readings, training, and assessments on time.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Operational Excellence Lead, Business Excellence Manager, or other appointed officers.
What You Bring to Takeda:
Educational Requirements:
- Third-level qualification in a technical discipline (or working towards a relevant degree).
- Green Belt or higher certification in Lean Six Sigma is highly advantageous.
Relevant Experience:
- Experience in the pharmaceuticals or life sciences industry preferred.
- Project management experience with the ability to plan and deliver defined scopes of work.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma (AGILE) methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks.
Skills & Competencies:
- Foundational understanding of Six Sigma tools and techniques, applied with guidance.
- Developing practical experience in change management and process mapping.
- Ability to perform basic statistical analyses with guidance.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive improvements.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
- Skilled in documentation and quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with tools such as Minitab or Power BI is a plus.
- Courage to challenge existing processes and drive change.
- Agile learner with the ability to put theory into practice.
- Interest in digital technology and participation in Agile reviews and learning encounters across the organization.
