Job Title: Chief of Staff

Location: India, Mumbai

About the role:

The Chief of Staff will be a strategic partner to the leadership team, driving key operations, ensuring effective communication, and facilitating the execution of strategic priorities. This individual will act as a trusted advisor, managing critical projects, providing thought leadership, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to achieve business goals.

Key Aspects of the Role:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute transformation strategies aligned with the India Re-Imagined Strategy.
  • Ensure cohesive change management practices are adopted across the company.

Project Oversight:

  • Lead a portfolio of high-impact projects from inception to completion.
  • Implement best practices in project management to ensure successful delivery.

Team and Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate closely with global and regional teams in each workstream to guide PMO leads.
  • Engage with senior executives and stakeholders to secure buy-in and support for transformation initiatives.

Performance and Risk Management:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with transformation projects.

Fostering Innovation:

  • Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.

How You Will Contribute:

Accountabilities:

Transformation Strategy Development:

  • Develop and articulate the transformation strategy in alignment with Takeda’s vision and goals.
  • Ensure the strategy is effectively communicated and understood across the organization.

Project Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee the portfolio of transformation projects, ensuring alignment with Takeda’s strategic priorities.
  • Establish and maintain project management methodologies, standards, and tools.

Change Management:

  • Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth transitions during transformation initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement within the organization.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Ensure transparent communication of project progress, issues, and outcomes.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers and transformation leaders.
  • Promote best practices in project management and transformation.

Performance Tracking and Reporting:

  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to executive leadership on project status and outcomes.

Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with transformation projects.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges.

Resource Allocation:

  • Optimize the allocation of resources (time, budget, personnel) to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Internal and External Stakeholders:

  • Internal: Country Leadership Team, General Manager, Project Management Leads for respective workstreams, extensive engagement with I-SEA and GEM teams.
  • External: Prospective partners, strategy consulting firms, Market Intelligence community.

What You Bring to Takeda:

Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a consulting firm, managing transformation projects, project management, or serving as a strategy lead in another Pharma MNC.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a must.
  • MBA preferred; finance background is an added advantage.
  • Strong project management skills, including expertise in BI, insight generation tools, and strategy frameworks.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership with strong business acumen, capable of navigating and directing transformational journeys.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • High integrity, honesty, perseverance, fairness, and leadership qualities.
  • Deep understanding of India’s healthcare ecosystem, rare disease policies, and patient communities.

Traveling Requirement:

  • Frequent travel (30-40%) within the country, with occasional travel to international locations
