Job Description

The Market Access & Corporate Affairs Head for Takeda in South Cone (Argentina, Chile) will lead and execute an integrated market access and corporate affairs strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare market, strong leadership, and influencing capabilities to work with various stakeholders, including cross-functional teams, government agencies, healthcare providers, payers, NGOs, and media.

The goal is to position Takeda as an innovative, value-based biopharmaceutical company and upholding Takeda reputation as well as ensuring access to Takeda’s innovative therapies for patients in South Cone. The role encompasses responsibilities over Market Access, Public & Government Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Communications, Social Responsibility, and Crisis Management.

It involves establishing and maintaining strong relationships with various external stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory agencies, patient advocacy groups, healthcare providers, industry associations, NGOs/NPOs, academic institutions, and media.

In the dynamic economic and political environment of South Cone, the role ensures alignment across functions and businesses, enhances Takeda’s reputation, drives patient access to therapies, and helps establish Takeda as a respected and leading voice in fostering dialogue on policy environment towards sustainable healthcare innovation and access.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and engage the Market Access and Corporate Affairs teams. Foster talent development and capability building, applying Takeda Leadership Behaviours to cultivate the Takeda Culture.

  • Market Access Strategy: Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for pipeline and in-line products & treatments. These plans should align with short and long-term business objectives, ensuring Takeda’s products are accessible to patients in South Cone. Collaborate with GEM Market Access and relevant Business Partners to ensure recognition of products’ therapeutic & economic value.

  • Corporate Affairs Strategy: Develop and execute a corporate affairs strategy for Takeda South Cone Cluster. This strategy should align with the Cluster Aspiration Plan, Takeda Global/GEM Corporate Affairs, and adhere to Takeda´s vision, mission, and values. Provide strategic guidance to the organization, staying updated on industry trends and best practices in corporate affairs, regulatory affairs, and public policy.

  • Payer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key payers, including government agencies, private insurers, and healthcare providers to secure optimal reimbursement and formulary placement.

  • Pricing and Reimbursement: Lead pricing and reimbursement negotiations with government authorities and payers to ensure competitive and sustainable pricing for Takeda's products. Lead the Account Plan for HMOs in alignment with the Commercialization team.

  • Healthcare Policy Engage with key decision-makers to shape policies and regulations that promote sustainable healthcare innovation and patient access. Identify collaboration opportunities with relevant third-party organizations to improve patient outcomes and drive healthcare system efficiency and resilience. Develop and expand strategic initiatives for Takeda to lead and/or partner the dialogue on integrated Dengue management, Value in Healthcare, Rare Disease policy shaping, sustainable plasma management, facilitating healthcare research & innovation and other. Build/enhance capabilities, conduct training, coach and mentor local teams engaged in policy shaping advocacy, and corporate reputation.

  • Patient Advocacy: Lead the development and implementation of advocacy initiatives to raise disease awareness and enhance capabilities of patient groups to influence halth policies and access.

  • Communications: Ensure that communications, policy shaping strategy and activities conform to corporate vision, mission, values, and business strategy.

  • Crisis Management: Enhance and maintain Cluster Crisis Management readiness.

  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Develop Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and initiatives for Takeda South Cone aligned with Takeda's values and community engagement objectives and guided by our commitment to patients, people and planet.

  • Value Demonstration and Health Economics & Outcomes Research: Develop / adapt value demonstration tools, e.g. budget impact & cost effectiveness models for use with customers, value propositions, etc, ensuring projects are delivered in a timely manner and through internal cross-functional collaboration. Collaborate with the HEOR/HTA and medical teams to identify evidence generation needs to support product value propositions and inform pricing and reimbursement decisions.

  • Public Relations: Manage positioning and participation in public relations and communication programs for confidential business initiatives, product launches, business development and partnership communications, crisis communication and corporate sponsorships. Advise the South Cone Head about appropriate internal and external executive communication and

  • public affairs activity participation and develop associated materials for speaking events, external board participation as well as media interviews.

  • Stakeholder Management: Continuously map and analyze external stakeholders to determine areas of interest, decision-making processes, and shared priorities. Develop and maintain a network of influencers and decision-makers to provide insights and intelligence to Takeda’s decision-making and policy development.

  • Market Intelligence: Develop and maintain a network of influencers and decision makers to help with adequate insights and intelligence to Takeda’s decision marking. Monitor and analyze market trends, healthcare policies, and competitor activities to adapt and refine market access strategies. Identify and anticipate future payer customer needs, constraints and requirements impacting Takeda and our therapeutic areas. Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate reputational issues and assess opportunities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on all questions about pricing, reimbursement, and value recognition to align on market access strategies and tactics. Educate and partner across the organization to establish an Access First mindset and to ensure consistent messaging and alignment in external engagement and communications.

  • Pipeline: Work with wider market access, corporate affairs and regulatory teams to build early pipeline access & policy strategy and data generation plan for pipeline assets / indications in conjunction with wider market access, medical and commercial teams

  • Compliance: Ensure all market access & corporate affairs activities comply with regulatory and compliance standards.

  • Budget Management: Manage relevant vendor relationships and associated budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated optimally to achieve market access goals.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in pharma industry leading market access strategies and corporate affairs. Deep understanding of the local healthcare system in the South Cone region is an advantage

  • Holds strong scientific and business acumen backgrounds

  • Develops and communicates effective market access strategies, applying advanced techniques in complex situations

  • Leads and influences cross-functional teams, providing strategic direction and oversight

  • Engages effectively with external stakeholders, including payers and influencers, to maximize product value recognition

  • Applies economic theories and pricing strategies to optimize market access and product uptake

  • Navigates complex negotiations, advising on strategies and improving practices

  • Executes advanced interpersonal communications, anticipates needs, and coaches others

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge of biopharmaceuticals, including vaccines and gene therapies

  • Understands and applies managed care and biotechnology concepts to enhance market access and product success

  • Independently handles Medicaid and Medicare complexities, applying knowledge effectively

  • Leads the design and implementation of health technology assessments and reimbursement strategies
