Job Purpose
Reporting to the Maintenance & Reliability Lead, the Lead Engineering Technician provides technical leadership and people management for the Engineering Technician team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all maintenance activities in support of Maintenance & Reliability operations at TILGC.
This role is accountable for driving high standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence, while supporting equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and fostering a strong team and continuous improvement culture. The role requires flexibility, including participation in an on-call and call-out rota as required.
How you will contribute:
Leadership & People Management
Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Engineering Technician team, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site and regulatory requirements
Promote teamwork and collaboration within the Maintenance & Reliability team and across all TILGC departments
Manage HR-related activities for the team, including:
Conducting regular 1:1 meetings
Executing the site performance management process via Workday
Managing time and annual leave through TMS
Support coaching, performance development, workload prioritization, shift coverage, and call-out management
Maintenance & Reliability Operations
Coordinate with cross-functional departments to plan and schedule maintenance activities while minimizing operational downtime
Identify equipment and facility issues, implement corrective actions, and support root-cause investigations
Execute and manage preventive and corrective maintenance work orders using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS – SAP PM)
Maintain accurate and compliant records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and inventory records
Provide daily maintenance updates at tier meetings, ensuring timely communication of issues, risks, and open actions
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with EHS procedures, site policies, and cGMP requirements
Act as Key Point of Contact (KPOC) for contractors performing maintenance or upgrade activities, including permit control
Ensure team members and contractors understand and comply with high-risk activity procedures (e.g. Confined Space, LOTO)
Follow and enforce proceduralised Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) programs
Ensure prompt reporting of accidents, near misses, and safety events via Beacon and actively support investigations and corrective actions
Promote a strong safety culture where safety is embedded in all activities
Technical Expertise & Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain technical knowledge of site equipment, including HVAC systems, centrifuges, dryers, and purified water systems
Support the development, review, and continuous improvement of maintenance plans
Promote and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including the AGILE Program
Support value capture opportunities to improve departmental efficiency and performance
Training & Collaboration
Participate fully in cross-functional training initiatives and support the training and development of others
Ensure timely completion of SOP training, assessments, and mandatory learning requirements
Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers across all site departments
General Responsibilities

What you bring to Takeda:
Education & Qualifications
Trade qualification required
Completed Electrical or Fitter apprenticeship
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar industrial or regulated environment
Relevant Experience
3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a similarly regulated industry (essential)
Demonstrated experience managing a small technical team, including:
Work allocation and prioritization
Coaching and performance support
Shift cover, call-out, and workload balancing
Hands-on experience operating and/or maintaining site equipment, including HVAC and purified water systems
Experience managing contractors is desirable
Skills & Competencies
Proven track record of high performance and delivery of results
Strong drive to sustain current best practices and identify, develop, and implement future improvements
Continuous improvement mindset
Experience using SAP PM (CMMS)
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
