Job Description
Job description:
- Lead Enterprise Value Delivery: for Takeda Procurement — with end-to-end accountability for defining, driving, tracking, and realizing measurable value (cost, cash, productivity, innovation, risk, ESG) from Takeda's total external spend across all categories and business units. Own the enterprise value-delivery framework, pipeline, and benefits realization to the P&L. Provide enterprise leadership through at least two levels of subordinates — leading multiple teams of directors, senior managers, and managers for the value-delivery portfolio, leading a team from director level down through associate level and serve as a member of the Procurement leadership team that shapes the function's operational strategy and contributes to Takeda's overall business strategy. Additionally this incumbent will sit on the leadership team of the IBU.
- Establish and own the enterprise value-delivery methodology, governance, and performance framework across a short-to-mid-term (1–3 year) horizon, in line with business objectives, and orchestrate resources across procurement and the business to deliver against value targets.
- Act as the strategic value partner to Finance and the business units, co-owning the value captured from external spend and ensuring benefits are transparently tracked, validated, and realized to the P&L. Serve as the account lead for PDT and sit on the TET 1 leadership team, influencing and helping shape business priorities.
- Build and lead a high-performing, business-oriented Value Delivery organization — providing both enterprise value leadership and advanced, flexible sourcing execution support to category teams — and drive the development and realization of the overall Procurement Strategy.
Accountabilities:
- Value strategy & methodology: Define and maintain the enterprise value-delivery framework aligned to enterprise and business-unit priorities and to Finance — value definitions, baselines, calculation standards, and stage-gate governance — ensuring consistent, auditable measurement of value across all categories.
- Value delivery: Own and deliver a robust, enterprise-wide pipeline of value-capture initiatives aligned to value targets; orchestrate cross-functional delivery with the Procurement Category Leads and with Finance, TBS, and Legal; provide strategic and executional guidance to the Value Delivery Team and Procurement Solutions Teams.
- Sourcing execution & category support: Lead the Value Delivery Team as an advanced, flexible sourcing capability that supports Procurement category teams across the full sourcing cycle. For globally managed categories, provide sourcing execution support while category leads retain strategic ownership. For regionally managed categories and sub-categories, lead sourcing end-to-end under category direction, including local adaptation of global category playbooks. Serve as the interface to markets, clusters, and sites — identifying and streamlining demand and specifications, developing local supplier market intelligence, funneling market signals and requirements back to category teams and CoEs, and supporting regional supplier performance and relationship management.
- Cross-enterprise synergies: Drive specific initiatives that maximize benefits from cross-enterprise synergies and ensure transparency, tracking, and realization of value to the P&L in close collaboration with Finance.
- Account leadership: Serve as the account lead for IBU and sit on the TET 1 leadership teams, representing Procurement, creating transparency on external spend and realized value, and influencing and helping shape business priorities.
- Benefits realization & P&L tracking: Own end-to-end benefits realization — pipeline-to-P&L tracking, validation with Finance, and management of the value forecast — ensuring agreed targets are met or exceeded and that realized value is transparently reported to procurement and business leadership.
- Analytics & performance management: Build and run the spend, savings, and performance analytics capability (dashboards, KPIs, data quality); systematically turn insight into action — identifying new value opportunities, tracking initiative health across the portfolio, and scaling productivity gains (e.g., AI, automation) across the enterprise.
- Financial impact: Deliver agreed savings and financial value capture opportunities through holistic spend management (including demand management) and improve working capital through disciplined payment terms and contract structuring.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Value delivery experience: Strong experience in value delivery, benefits realization, procurement performance management, or procurement finance across a broad spend base in pharma, consumer goods, or related environments.
- Value delivery track record: Proven ability to define and execute enterprise value-delivery frameworks and pipelines at scale; distinctive thought leadership to deliver strong, measurable value for the business; expectation to build a culture of accountability and performance.
- Stakeholder influence: Credible partner to senior executives; able to challenge demand and shape decisions. Recognized as an expert who coaches and influences others at all levels, including external stakeholders, and shapes enterprise strategy from a leadership-team seat.
- Financial and delivery acumen: Track record of delivering and validating value in complex, global environments; strong risk and controls mindset.
- Communication skills: Ability to think creatively, engage in effective communication, and be a driver of change.
- Leadership skills: Strong ability to inspire, influence, and lead through others, including through at least two levels of subordinate leaders (directors, senior managers, and managers)
- People skills: Experienced people leader, able to demonstrate passion for developing future procurement leaders.
- Partnering skills: Proven track record of building effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizational skills: Comfortable operating in a highly matrixed environment and demonstrated ability to successfully navigate it while achieving common objectives.
- At least 15 years working in biotech/pharma industry, or other highly regulated industries, with progressive leadership of procurement, including senior-leadership / VP-level accountability for a global value delivery / procurement performance organization led through at least two layers of management.
- Masters' degree required (e.g., MBA, Master's in Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, or related field) preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive procurement leadership experience, with substantial exposure to value delivery, benefits realization, and procurement performance management across a broad spend base, including leadership of a global organization through at least two layers of management.
- Proven experience leading global teams in complex, matrixed multinational organizations, ideally within pharma, consumer goods, or related sectors, at the VP / functional-head level, with a seat on the procurement leadership team and influence over enterprise strategy.
- Fluent in English.
