Advancing Your Oncology Career at Takeda: Learning, Leadership and Global Impact
At a certain point in an oncology career, growth looks different. It’s no longer just about the next title; it’s about expanding your scope, influencing decisions across the development lifecycle and shaping how innovative therapies reach patients around the world.
At Takeda Oncology, that kind of growth is built into the way teams work. Whether you’re advancing early‑stage science or shaping global commercial strategy, careers evolve through cross‑functional collaboration, mobility across geographies and the chance to take on challenges that accelerate your development.
Trusted to lead and empowered to grow.
For Angela Shen, Head of Medical Capabilities for Global Medical Affairs Oncology, growth has come from being trusted with complex, enterprise‑level challenges. Her team helps medical colleagues generate and deliver the right evidence, so clinicians can make confident, data‑driven decisions for patients. That work has expanded her role far beyond traditional medical responsibilities, giving her opportunities to build capabilities, influence global teams and elevate the impact of others.
I was fortunate to work with leaders who trusted me with complex problems, encouraged me to think beyond my lane and pushed me outside of my comfort zone to focus not only on execution, but on the impact.

Continuous growth in early‑stage oncology
Angela’s experience reflects a core part of Takeda Oncology’s culture: meaningful responsibility paired with the support to grow. For Alex Parent Executive Medical Director in Oncology R&D, that same environment fueled steady growth across the development continuum. Initially joining as a fellow in Takeda’s Physician Scientist Accelerator Program (TPSAP), Alex quickly expanded into leadership roles spanning pre‑clinical, phase one and phase two programs.
“I’ve been given continuous opportunities to learn and grow, from working closely with a clinical mentor to leading programs across early‑stage development,” shares Alex. That progression, he emphasizes, is only possible because of the scale and strength of the teams behind every program.
“Advancing a new medicine takes a huge team of more than 100 people all working together to bring forward therapies that can meaningfully improve patients’ lives,” explains Alex. Just as important, Alex notes, is the expectation that every voice matters.
If you come to Takeda, your voice is valued. That’s why you’re here—your perspective is meant to be heard.

Global opportunities that build on your experience.
For Brendan Turner, growth came through opportunities to move across countries, teams, and responsibilities, each one expanding his impact. He began as a brand manager in the UK before moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to join the global team.
“That move really expanded my horizons,” Brendan reflects. “I was able to bring what I’d learned in the UK to global colleagues and help bridge the gap between local teams and our main office.” Since then, Brendan’s path has taken him from local marketing to global brand leadership and now into a pre‑launch role, each move opening new doors and expanding the ways he contributes to patient care.
Growing together, for patients everywhere.
Across their very different paths, Angela, Alex, and Brendan share a common experience: a values‑driven environment where you are empowered to learn and grow, supported by teams that work as one.
If you’re looking for a place where your expertise in oncology can keep evolving and where you can help bring innovative therapies to patients worldwide, Takeda Oncology may be the right next step.
