Well-being at Takeda, Through Employees’ Eyes
Well-being starts with people
At Takeda, well-being isn’t a side conversation or a set of programs. It’s part of how work happens every day. Employees describe it in personal, practical terms, not as an abstract idea, but as something they experience consistently.
Esther Destratis, Quality Lead, who has built her career at Takeda over nearly 12 years, puts it simply: “Well-being at Takeda is more than lip service. It’s a true foundation of our values and part of our DNA.”
That perspective reflects Takeda’s approach to well-being across four dimensions: emotional, physical, financial and social and a focus on life-work alignment that supports employees as whole people, in and outside of work.
Well-being, supported in every way
Support that shows up when it matters
While well-being is part of everyday work, it becomes most visible in moments that matter. For Esther, that meant flexibility during pregnancy, maternity leave and her return to work: “It made me really confident to come back to work, confident that I can have the best of both worlds, being a mother and a Takeda employee.”
Delia Griffiths-Hansen, Lead Patent Counsel and parent of two, shares a similar experience. Hybrid work and support for working from home have made balancing work and life more manageable.
Together, these experiences point to an important distinction: flexibility at Takeda isn’t static. It adapts to real life. That’s the intent behind life-work alignment: making it easier for employees to navigate both everyday responsibilities and major transitions without stepping away from their growth or impact.
Mental health support that feels real
That same consistency shows up in how employees experience support day to day. Employees describe it in terms of trust, respect and psychological safety; not just policies, but behaviors they see and feel. Esther defines well-being as “being respected, being supported, being included, being psychologically safe.”
Sabrina Gagnon, Strategy & Business Operations Excellence Lead, has seen what that looks like in practice. During a difficult personal moment, she shared that her leader encouraged her to take time off and stepped in to help carry responsibilities. “That level of understanding made an incredibly difficult moment more manageable.”
She also describes a culture where leaders respect boundaries and recognize that people perform best when their well-being is protected.
That culture is reinforced by global resources. Takeda offers a single Employee Assistance Program with 24/7 confidential support in local languages. In 2025, usage reached 11% globally, above industry benchmarks. That matters. Because support only works if people trust it enough to use it.
Well-being at Takeda is more than lip service. It’s a true foundation of our values and part of our DNA.

Belonging makes a difference
From there, well-being extends beyond support into how people experience connection and inclusion.
For Sabrina, that meant growing in confidence as an English second-language speaker and coming to see her voice “as a strength, not a limitation.” Experiences like hers reflect the role belonging plays in everyday well-being.
Takeda Resource Groups (TRGs) help create space for that connection across the company. Membership has grown 25% year over year to more than 12,000, reflecting strong engagement in employee-led communities built around shared experiences.
Support that’s practical, too
Alongside culture and connection, well-being at Takeda is also tangible in everyday ways. Employees have access to physical and financial resources, from health programs and well-being tools to financial education and market-specific retirement and savings support.
Taken together, these offerings reinforce a simple goal: make support usable in everyday life. Not just available. Not just encouraged. Usable.
What candidates should know
Across these experiences, a consistent picture emerges. Well-being at Takeda isn’t something employees have to figure out on their own. It’s built into how the company operates: through flexibility that adapts, support people trust and a culture where individuals can contribute as themselves.
Well-being here doesn’t mean work is always easy. It means being supported while doing meaningful work. Explore careers at Takeda and see what that could look like for you.
