Role Purpose:
Takeda is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to strengthen our medical affairs presence across Oceania, with primary coverage in Australia. As the dermatology scientific expert in the field, you will lead the implementation of the Field Medical Plan and help shape the pre-launch strategy in dermatological immune disorders through high-quality scientific exchange, research support and trusted relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions and other external stakeholders.
Working with the Field Medical Lead, Medical Advisor and cross-functional partners, you will strengthen strategic partnerships with the dermatology clinical community and translate insights into actionable recommendations to address evidence gaps and influence cross-functional brand strategy and decision-making. Patient needs, safety, compliance and Takeda’s values of Patient, Trust, Reputation and Business will guide your work. This field-based role involves approximately 80% external engagement and regular travel across Australia and Oceania.
We are open to candidates based in Sydney or Brisbane.
How you will Contribute:
Scientific Engagement and Insights
- Execute the Medical Plan and Scientific Engagement Strategy by building credible scientific partnerships with KOLs and other priority stakeholders.
- Deliver balanced, evidence-based disease-state and on-label product exchange, and respond appropriately to unsolicited medical-information requests.
- Develop and implement stakeholder and account plans, apply field medical KPIs and capture, document and share actionable insights to inform medical and brand strategy.
- Maintain current therapeutic-area and product expertise through literature review, congresses and continuous professional development.
Medical Strategy, Education and Collaboration
- Contribute to advisory boards, medical education, peer-to-peer activities, scientific congress coverage and development of approved scientific materials.
- Act as a field-based scientific and clinical expert for Medical, Regulatory, Commercial and Market Access colleagues.
- Collaborate across local, regional and global teams, contributing to therapeutic-area and Brand Team priorities in a matrix environment.
Evidence Generation, Patient Centricity and Governance
- Support company-sponsored studies, investigator-initiated research requests, Medical Affairs studies, registries and real-world-evidence activities as appropriate.
- Support patient access initiatives and promptly manage or escalate safety, quality and pharmacovigilance information through the correct processes.
Expected Skills to be Successful in this Role:
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or similar discipline, or a medical degree (e.g., MBBS); a PhD, MD or PharmD is desirable.
- Relevant experience as an MSL or in medical affairs or clinical research roles. Experienced MSL candidates are strongly preferred.
- Dermatology experience is highly desirable. Product-launch and/or clinical-research experience is advantageous.
Business Expertise & Leadership Capabilities
- Deep scientific and clinical credibility, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data clearly to varied audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, written and verbal communication, presentation and influencing skills.
- Strong planning, prioritisation, analytical judgement and insight-generation capability; and an ability to think innovatively and manage complexity in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, patient-focused and self-driven, with high integrity, professionalism and commitment to compliance.
What awaits you:
- Market-leading benefits that make a difference to individuals, families, and carers during each stage of your career.
- Rewarding career and development opportunities tailored to your aspirations.
- Flexible leave options that help you personalize your work experience.
- Comprehensive wellbeing program supporting your social, financial, mental, and physical wellbeing.
