Job Description
Purposes
This position is responsible for design and development the affordability and commercial insurance access strategy for Takeda’s innovative drugs. The incumbent will collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to drive Takeda brands’ adoption by commercial insurance products, and improve the affordability and accessibility of Takeda’s innovative drugs.
Key Responsibilities
1, Affordability & Commercial Insurance Strategy and Delivery
- Define and develop the affordability & commercial insurance strategy across targeted brands, aligned to Takeda’s patient-first principles, market access strategy, and brand objectives.
- Drive innovative access collaboration models including commercial insurance coverage, specialty drug reimbursement, outcome-based payment, performance-based reimbursement, direct-pay solutions, and other risk-sharing mechanisms
- Lead end-to-end payer partnership projects from solution design and negotiation to implementation and operational management
- Lead commercial negotiations with external partners including TPAs and insurance stakeholders in collaboration with Market Access and Brand teams.
2, Monitor commercial insurance policy trends and market dynamics and translate insights into actionable access and affordability plans.
- Monitor the commercial insurance policy and market trends
- Support IDL listing of targeted brands
- Collaboration with the commercial insurance industry to advocate for policies to improve the affordability and accessibility of innovative drugs.
3, Innovative Payment Solution design and implementation
- Design and implement patient-centric innovative payment solutions across targeted brands aligned with product lifecycle and market access strategy
- Monitor project implementation effectiveness and continuously optimize workflows, settlement models, and operational KPIs
- Ensure related projects are built with clear medical, ethical, legal, and compliance guardrails, including transparent communications and audit-ready documentation.
- Support scalability and replication of successful innovative payment programs across products and therapeutic areas
Qualifications
Preferred background
- 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance company or multiple payment TPA;
- Experience in pharmaceutical access function is a plus;
- Strong understanding of China healthcare payment landscape, including commercial insurance, HuiMinBao, innovative payment, PAP and diversified payer models;
- Familiarity with innovative payment models and patient affordability solutions;
- Strong project management, communication skills, stakeholder management, and commercial negotiation capabilities
- Adapt to environments with pressure and fast work pace
- Good communication skills in both Chinese and English
Level of education
- Bachelor's degree
Working experience in relevant field
- Pharmaceutical companies (Market Access/Innovative payment)
- Commercial healthcare insurance companies
- TPAs / healthcare payment platform companies
