Job Description
Objective / Purpose: Describe at the highest level the team where this job sits and how this role will contribute to the team’s delivery of critical function.
The Business Operations Manager is responsible for employee engagement and organizational cohesion across R&D China and APAC Region. This role shall proactively take part in the planning and execution of strategic engagement initiatives, leads development of high-impact content and communication approaches, and ensures effective use of internal channels to support business priorities and long-term organizational development.
The role also drives major internal and external engagement and reputation-enhancing initiatives that strengthen the visibility and reputation of Takeda and Takeda R&D in China. In addition, this role serves as an important connector across R&D Global Regions to drive alignment, improve coordination, and increase the overall impact of engagement efforts.

- Lead the planning, prioritization, and execution of employee engagement programs across R&D China and APAC Region
- Drive engagement materials and messaging approaches that strengthen leadership engagement, organizational cohesion, and employee understanding of key priorities.
- Manage and continuously improve internal engagement and communication channels to ensure clear, consistent, and impactful information flow across the organization.
- Support in shaping and delivering major internal and external engagement and reputation-building initiatives.
- Drive cross-functional and cross-regional coordination with colleagues across R&D China and APAC Region to improve alignment, share best practices, and increase the efficiency and impact of engagement efforts.
- Manage execution support resources, including vendors and contractors where applicable, Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen engagement processes, tools, templates, and ways of working, bringing a continuous improvement mindset to the role.

- Bachelor’s degree or above, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in employee engagement, internal communications, strategic communications, event management, or related roles; healthcare or pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead engagement and communication initiatives from planning through execution, with strong ownership and accountability for outcomes.
- Strong capability in developing and tailoring engagement content, key messages, and communication materials for leadership and diverse internal audiences.
- Experience managing internal communication or engagement channels and using them strategically to improve reach, clarity, and organizational impact.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and work effectively across functions, regions, and cultures in a matrixed environment.
- Strong project leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, drive follow-through, and deliver high-quality results under ambiguity.
- Experience leading or overseeing vendors, agencies, or external support resources, including setting direction, managing quality, and ensuring timely delivery, is preferred.
- Proactive, agile, and solution-oriented, with strong judgment, resilience, and the confidence to operate independently while partnering closely with senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with AI tools and digital content solutions, with the ability to use them responsibly and effectively to enhance communication, engagement, and workflow efficiency.
