Job Description
About the role:
- The Head of Finance – Oceania & North Asia Cluster is a critical member of the IBU Finance team, combining strategic finance business partnering and people management to provide strong leadership for the Oceania & North Asia Cluster and IBU finance organization.
- This is a strategic senior leadership role accountable for shaping priorities, driving performance and influencing decisions to deliver stronger outcomes for the IBU organization. This role drives transformation championing new IBU ways of working and adopting emerging AI technologies across finance processes to enhance efficiency and insight. Operating cross-functionally, it partners with multiple teams across the organization — including HR, Supply, and Global Shared Services — and is pivotal to driving business performance across four countries.
- The role reports to the Head of Finance – Intercontinental Markets and is a key member of the Oceania & North Asia Cluster leadership team and the Intercontinental Markets Finance Leadership team.
- It is a strategic leadership role accountable for shaping priorities, driving performance and influencing decisions to deliver stronger outcomes for the IBU organization.
- The role operates at a senior enterprise leadership level, reporting to TET-2, serving as a core member of the Area FLT and executing the IBU-wide business strategy.
How you will contribute:
- Senior finance leader accountable for overall financial performance, governance, and strategic decision support for a number of countries representing a material part of the Intercontinental Markets business.
- Acts as a core member of the leadership team of the Cluster, balancing short-term performance with long-term value creation and aligned to the IBU strategy.
- Drives performance across the cluster by thinking strategically, improving the speed and quality of decision-making, and developing new solutions to complex problems.
- Plays a leading role in identifying opportunities for revenue growth, profit improvement and maximizing return on investment
- Sets the finance strategy for the Cluster aligned with the International Business Units (IBU) strategy, influencing investment, and operating model decisions.
- As a member of the Intercontinental Markets Finance Leadership Team representing of a material part of the Area the Head of Finance plays a key part in strategy development, revision, and implementation for the wider enterprise.
- Partners closely with the Cluster General Manager and senior cross-functional stakeholders to support decision-making, elevate financial partnerships, and strengthen organizational capabilities
- Full oversight of the Cluster P&L and balance sheet, the Head of Finance ensures financial integrity, drives performance management, and enhances investment discipline across brands and therapeutic areas.
- In addition to financial leadership, this role is responsible for leading and mentoring a high-performing finance team, setting talent strategy and defining succession plans while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- As a member of the Intercontinental Market Finance Leadership Team, the Head of Finance also contributes to broader finance talent development and succession planning.
The role drives finance strategy in different countries which represents high complexity in level of entities.
The individual needs to:
- Communicate financial strategies, risks, and performance to executive leadership and key stakeholders with clarity and influence.
- Have deep expertise in strategic planning, investment decision making, and variance analysis, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
- Strong command of management reporting and KPI framework, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Recognized as an expert influencer, capable of shaping outcomes at all levels of the organization, including senior executives and external stakeholders.
- Be capable of leading the development and execution of the cluster financial strategy, ensuring alignment with Takeda’s global objectives and IBU vision.
Dimensions and Aspects:
Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise
Strong knowledge of Takeda’s finance strategy and processes that includes identification of risk and opportunities to drive IBU growth. Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and ability to coordinate complex technical accounting matters with TBS/controllership teams.
Leadership
People management of direct reports with responsibility for developing a talent strategy and across finance and developing leadership capabilities and a succession plan.
Ability to influence others including extended team members and business partners. Strong leadership to manage change set forth by MRP direction. Clear and concise communication with IBU leadership and finance leadership.
Decision-making and Autonomy
Capacity to make decisions aligned with the IBU strategic direction set forth by the respective Cluster leader and executive team. Collaboration on complex and highly impactful decisions with the Head of the Area Finance and IBU Finance.
Interaction
Primarily internal relationships which includes regular interactions with senior commercial and finance leadership, IBU Finance, Cluster Leadership, Regional Commercial Finance team, TBS, Global HR and DD&T colleagues. Enable information sharing to help brings different teams and groups together and help them understand the connection between their work and the organization’s goals. Some external relationships as needed in the respective area of responsibility or countries.
Innovation
Demonstrate adoption of new financial processes, system enhancements, technologies and general best practices is required for this role. Innovation on data/digital enhancements will be important for this role.
Complexity
High complexity given the size of the P&L, representing a material part of the Intercontinental Markets Area and the multi country nature of the role (including different statutory and regulatory requirements).
