Job Description
About the role:
As a Packaging Specialist you will maintain and troubleshoot packaging equipment. You will ensure safe and efficient hands-on maintenance of manufacturing and utilities systems including but not limited to Conveyor belts, Sensors, Label printers, pumps and motors. You will adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMPs, and Quality Standards in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility are mandatory.
How you will contribute:
- Inspects, repairs and maintains facility structures and equipment as directed by immediate supervisor and/or as assigned through work orders.
- Support the manufacturing floor by aiding in setting up for batches.
- Operate, set-up and perform change overs for packaging equipment
- Complete relevant paperwork and electronic system prompts/tasks, following GDP/GMP guidelines.
- Manually clean all portable equipment and small parts, assemble and operate packaging equipment
- Demonstrate proficiency in electronic systems such as (EBM, JDE, etc.)
- Applies auditing principles in routine situations with minimal supervision
- Operates and maintains packaging equipment independently in routine and moderately complex situations, with minimal guidance needed
- Profound understanding of technical processes within packaging
- Troubleshoots advanced issues with packaging equipment, applying basic problem-solving skills
- Guides others through complex problem-solving processes, and recommending improvements.
- All work must be completed in accordance with cGMPs, SOPs, job plans, and company policies.
- Provide feedback to equipment guides and trouble shooting job aides
- Ensure that equipment log and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
- Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with state and federal EPA regulation andlaws.
Attends required training andmeetings to stay in compliance.
Other functions may be assigned.
What you bring to Takeda:
- Requires high school diploma or GED. 2+ years ofexperience
- Ideal candidate will have a Trade School Certificate, Demonstrated strong mechanical background/experience, electrical background (up to 480VAC) preferred. Demonstrate knowledge about packaging equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and writtenform
Intermediate computerskills.
Ability to read and understand schematics and job blueprints
Troubleshooting knowledge of miscellaneous equipment and process equipment and utilities (water systems, bulk delivery systems)
Manufacturing equipment vessels, mixers, valves,pumps.
Have a basic understanding of control system to assist during troubleshooting.
Understands the concepts of Total Productive Maintenance and Operator Care

- Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
- Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, wet environment.
- Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
- Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
May be exposed to sunlight andheat.
May be exposed to dust, gases, andfumes.
May be around moving equipment andmachinery.
May climb up to and/or into large processing tanks for cleaning orinspection
