Job Description

EMEA (Senior) Payroll Specialist

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting outsourced payroll operations across Europe, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery through external payroll providers. This role serves as a key liaison across vendors and internal stakeholders, coordinates payroll inputs and controls, and contributes to process improvement through standardization, automation, and the use of Takeda-enabled AI and automation tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Operations & Compliance

  • Coordinate end-to-end payroll activities through external payroll providers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local requirements.
  • Validate payroll inputs, including earnings, deductions, tax components, statutory contributions, and employee data changes.
  • Review, update, and validate payroll data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Manage and coordinate monthly payroll runs, including one-time payments, corrections, adjustments, and other off-cycle transactions.
  • Ensure equity-related transactions are processed accurately and within payroll deadlines.
  • Perform payroll and tax reconciliations, maintain effective payroll controls, and support required reporting activities.
  • Review and manage payroll corrections identified before and between payroll cycles.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate timely implementation of required updates.
  • Support year-end payroll activities and statutory reporting requirements.

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

Technical & Functional Skills:

  • Tech-savvy, with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use payroll systems, digital tools, and automation solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • 3-5 years of payroll experience, ideally supporting European payroll operations.
  • Strong understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, tax processes, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience with ADP Global ViewWorkday, ServiceNow or similar platforms
  • Experience with Time & Attendance systems such as WFS, WFM, Kronos, or similar platforms is an advantage.
  • Experience working within an outsourced payroll model and managing external vendors is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in German or French
  • Fluency in English
