Job Description

The Future Begins Here: At Takeda, we are creating a future-ready organization that uses data and digital to meet the needs of patients, our people, and the planet. We need your help to make this happen. Join our Innovation Capability Center (ICC) in Bratislava, Slovakia.

At Takeda’s ICC we Unite in Diversity: Takeda is committed to creating an inclusive and collaborative workplace, where individuals are recognized for their backgrounds and the abilities they bring to our company. We are continuously improving our collaborators’ journey in Takeda, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Here, you will feel welcomed, respected, and valued as an important contributor to our diverse team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Digital Health SaMD & Platform Engineering Specialist, you will join a central team responsible for building Takeda’s next-generation Digital Health Platform. Working closely with the Senior Platform Architect and Senior Platform Engineer, you will help design, implement, and scale the platform’s core services — from cloud infrastructure and backend APIs to data pipelines and compliance automation.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges in regulated environments and want to contribute to a platform that supports Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), AI/ML, and global digital health innovation.

Responsibilities

Cloud & Backend Engineering

  • Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and infrastructure components that power digital health applications.
  • Implement secure, scalable, and modular services using cloud-native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, serverless, containers).
  • Collaborate with the Senior Platform Architect to ensure architectural consistency and technical excellence.

Data & Integration Engineering

  • Build and maintain data pipelines, storage layers, and integration services that support AI/ML and clinical workflows.
  • Ensure data integrity, traceability, and compliance with GxP, GDPR, and SaMD requirements.
  • Support ingestion, transformation, and secure access to structured and unstructured health data.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with product teams to understand platform needs and provide reusable, compliant building blocks.
  • Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and platform enablement activities.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, developer guides, and onboarding materials.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Approximately 5 years of experience in backend, cloud, or data engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), container orchestration (i.e. Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm, etc.).
  • Proficiency in backend development (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js) and API design.
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Kafka, Snowflake, or similar).
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a cross-functional, agile team.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site in Bratislava with flexibility for hybrid work.

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or medical device software.
  • Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure, model deployment, or MLOps.
  • Knowledge of EU AI Act, FDA SaMD guidance, and cloud validation practices.
