Job Description

The Opportunity

Takeda is seeking a Platform Software Test Lead to join the ServiceNow Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) in supporting the development of new ServiceNow Platform capabilities. This position reports centrally to the Testing and Validation Chapter while being integrated within the ServiceNow Platform CoE, focusing on maintaining highest testing standards for new/ existing capabilities on the ServiceNow platform.

As a test professional, your hands-on approach and innovative technical proficiency will have a significant impact on the oversight of multiple products and in leading the testing effort for their releases. This role requires exceptional testing expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of ServiceNow Platform and Product.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to enhancing user experience. This role involves collaborating with all teams within the ServiceNow Dev factory. Responsibilities include leading a diverse group of internal and vendor testing personnel assigned to various projects, ensuring business deadlines are met, and consistently maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities

Test Planning and Design:

  • Define and own the ServiceNow Platform Test Strategy across modules, releases, and environments.
  • Develop and execute detailed test plans and test cases for enterprise systems and applications, ensuring alignment with Takeda’s quality standards.
  • Define clear, repeatable test cases aligned with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Highlight potential risks and bottlenecks in processes or applications to stakeholders on a timely basis, along with proposed mitigation strategies.
  • ServiceNow release - Review release notes, Identify impacted modules and business processes. Create detailed test scenarios and cases covering both new and existing functionality. Prepare role-based test plans to validate permissions and access. Joining daily / weekly status calls and represent the team.


Leadership and Execution:

  • Oversee the ServiceNow testing process across multiple products and projects, ensuring ServiceNow release meets highest quality standard.
  • Anticipate production and quality challenges and proactively work with the team to find solutions and mitigate disruptions to development.
  • Supervise and lead a team of software testers and test engineers, offering guidance, training, and support to drive their efficiency and productivity.
  • Document information provided by multiple departments to ensure the testing team is informed of all project changes on a consistent basis.
  • Conduct Functional, User Acceptance, Performance, Scalability, and Regression testing to ensure applications meet global Takeda standards.
  • Validate integration between ServiceNow and other application platforms.
  • Ensure correct access controls and permissions across user roles.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure stable performance of legacy components. Document unexpected behaviors.

Defect Management:

  • Actively engage in defect lifecycle management, including monitoring, tracking, triaging issues, and providing actionable insights.
  • Detect, document, and prioritize defects with detailed, high-quality reports.
  • Assist Development teams in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving application and environment issues.
  • ServiceNow release - Log defects with clear steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual outcomes, and severity. Ensure timely implementation of fixes, proactively retest updated features, and validate resolution effectiveness.

Automation and Monitoring:

  • Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks and develop automated tests for new features.
  • Adhere to compliance and regulatory guidelines (such as GxP) with pharmaceutical digital solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test scripts for both manual and automated test scenarios.
  • Leverage AI/ML techniques to support test case generation, defect pattern analysis, and regression prioritization.
  • Explore AI-assisted approaches for test data creation and scenario coverage optimization.
  • Partner with platform AI initiatives to align testing practices with Now Assist and GenAI capabilities.

Collaboration and Adherence:

  • Partner with development teams to design and implement test strategies for new and existing functionality.
  • Ensure alignment with Takeda’s data integrity policies and maintain comprehensive testing documentation.
  • Review solution designs and configurations from a testability and quality risk perspective.
  • Partner with Platform and Solution Architects to embed quality gates early in the SDLC.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in project and sprint planning to provide testing perspectives and estimates.
  • Advocate for quality processes and enterprise best practices.
  • Define and publish platform-level quality metrics and dashboards.
  • Track escaped defects, regression effectiveness, test coverage, and release quality trends.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring quality issues and drive preventive actions.
  • Continuously improve testing processes using data-driven insights.

Release & Environment Readiness

  • Own release readiness and go/no-go criteria for ServiceNow platform releases.
  • Define and enforce entry/exit criteria for each environment (DEV, TEST, QA, UAT).
  • Validate data refresh, masking, and integrity during environment cloning activities.
  • Lead upgrade testing strategy, including regression, integration, and backward compatibility testing.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science / Information technology; or relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years in software testing, preferably using tools such as Jira, qTest & Tosca, JUnit, and TestNG.
  • 3+ years of experience with ServiceNow modules, specifically Integration, Request Catalog, Workflows, App Engine.
  • Ability to design and execute test cases using ServiceNow’s Automated Test Framework.
  • 5+ years of experience with expertise in Functional, User Acceptance, and Regression testing methodologies.
  • Experience testing multi-instance ServiceNow architectures.
  • Familiarity with CSDM impacts on testing.
  • Understanding of IntegrationHub, event-driven integrations, and data fabric testing
  • Ability to create and maintain cohesive test documentation and test artifacts.
  • Basic understanding of JavaScript for validating client / server-side logic.
  • Experience with automation testing tools and capable of designing scalable frameworks.
  • Knowledge of GxP compliance and other regulatory guidelines within the pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
  • Strong familiarity with Agile, SDLC, and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
  • ServiceNow System Administrator certification (preferred).
  • ServiceNow Application Developer certification (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent English (both written and oral).
