Job Description

Objectives

The Head of GI is responsible for leading teams and processes associated with the management of the organization's sales, marketing, and product management operations. This role aims to develop and deliver marketing strategies, manage product/brand P&L, and ensure product volume and profit targets are met. The role contributes to Takeda's mission by aligning sales and marketing efforts with corporate goals

Accountabilities
Leadership

  • To provide inspirational leadership to the sales and marketing team in the franchise in a cohesive manner to ensure strong alignment to optimize strategy implementation and sales delivery.
  • Create the vision, clarity and drive for all team members in the BU to enable them to deliver the expected sales.
  • Ensure that the goals and objectives are agreed to and cascaded in a timely manner, and giving ongoing feedback, coaching and development to build skills and contribution (People development)
  • Driving for Results
  • Delivering marketing, local market access and sales plans, which optimize the brand in the portfolio.
  • Achieve the sales, profit, and market share targets for franchise, in terms of both annual budget and shorter-term phasing.
  • Lead long range forecasting to support life cycle management and strategic portfolio planning


Strategic Thinking

  • To create clear business unit strategies that are fulfilled through the tactical implementation.
  • To work with regional team to ensure localization of regional strategies and to tap into knowledge and information that is held by others.
  • Undertake Business Unit Planning ensuring all critical factors are considered and that both strategic and tactical plans are reviewed by senior management prior to approval.
  • To ensure launch excellence for new molecules as and when available, indications and line extensions to ensure the Takeda achieves its goals.
  • To develop strong links to organization to ensure alignment and develop an understanding of market challenges and progress
  • Customer & Market focus
  • Lead, develop and maintain appropriate customer networks on behalf of the company
  • Ensure competitor intelligence processes are developed and maintained.
  • Ensure strategies are implemented to optimize the product's local access to market
  • incorporate digital e.g. omni channel engagement as needed to amplify F2F activities with customers

Communications

  • Actively develop the motivation of the sales force through high-quality communication and flawless delivery of materials for each sales cycle
  • Be inclined towards Digital and Omnichannel communication.
  • Present on a regular basis to marketing team to ensure vision for brand is understood.
  • Develop strong cohesive relationships with marketing managers, sales force and managers via regular contact ensuring profound understanding of market

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent, MBA preferred
  • At least 12 years of commercial experience in sales and marketing across in the pharmaceuticals industry (Life Sciences/ Healthcare).
  • Minimum 5 years in leadership role, people management experience must

Competencies and Skills

  • Strong financial understanding of P&L and drivers of Takeda’s portfolio
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, initiative, creativity, and proven track-record for innovation.
  • Experience in a leadership role within a multi-functional commercial organization is required. Strong, team-oriented leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence, lead, negotiate and work effectively at all levels within a matrix and multi-cultural environment aiming towards strategic alignment for commercial success.
  • Track record and strong knowledge of successfully defining market issues and opportunities and developing successful marketing campaigns
  • Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex strategic initiatives, including a demonstrated understanding of the tools and methodologies needed to develop assumptions for business case, market and competitive analysis, regulatory reviews, customer needs and primary/secondary research sources to support hypotheses
  • Experience managing marketing teams including hiring, managing performance, and developing skill sets of direct reports
  • Enthusiasm, confidence, ability to work on multiple tasks, problem solving ability, creativity, and ability to prioritize effectively to meet personal, team and company goals.

  • Excellent cross functional communication across the organization to influence strategy formulation and align members on global strategy and vision
