Job Description

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain process through utilization of data-driven decision-making to improve and optimize supply chain performance, mitigate risks, and enhance service delivery across all levels of the supply chain, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of products to patients.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of supply chain principles, regulatory and quality standards, and industry best practices relevant to pharmaceutical healthcare and will maintain close collaboration across functions, including business units, finance and operations, as well as global and regional stakeholders to develop strategic initiatives that enhance business partnerships, streamline inventory management, and drive operational cost efficiencies.

Additionally, this is a people leader role which demands strong leadership capabilities to mentor and guide a dedicated team focused on achieving operational excellence and organizational objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Business Partnering

  • Be the trusted local business partner and strategic advisor responsible for the overall supply chain strategy (both short-term and long-term) and logistics operations excellence in Thailand.
  • Be the liaison point between global functions, GMS, GEM, ISEA, local commercial and finance teams; to lead and drive the implementation of supply chain strategies and sustainable supply chain and logistics best practices with continuous improvements across policies and processes, as well as through ongoing projects, initiatives, and solutions.
  • To analyze and monitor key performance metrics to ensure prompt resolution of issues and maximization of overall operational efficiencies, as well as ensuring key performance metrics and financial performance are in line with overall Global Supply Chain and Finance strategies. 
  • To provide timely and meaningful insights to local management and commercial teams with respect to Supply Chain & Logistics Operations and KPIs (forecast accuracy, global and local stock situation, write offs, product launches, customers’ satisfaction, external market dynamics e.g. legislative/regulatory changes impacting importation / custom clearance processes etc) to enable continuous monitoring and sound decision making.

2. S&OP & Inventory Management

  • Be responsible for the overall S&OP process and to ensure optimal inventory levels to meet demand and forecast requirements, including new product launches, while driving increasingly high level of forecast accuracy and cost effectiveness.
  • Deep understanding of the demand and supply dynamics (including new product launches), taking into consideration sales forecast, historical trends, market trends etc
  • Maintaining prompt multi-way communication and effective cross functional collaboration between local Commercial, local Finance teams, and all relevant stakeholders (global / regional / external), translating commercial inputs on market demand into procurement plans to be committed with global supply sites, flagging risks to regional / global teams where necessary
  • Ensure optimal level of stocks on hand to meet customer/patient needs, while driving increasingly high level of forecast accuracy and cost effectiveness.

3. Supply Chain and Logistics Operations

  • To maintain oversight of day-to-day supply chain and logistics activities and prompt resolutions of operational issues to ensure seamless flow of goods from supply site to delivery to customer while maintaining high levels of product quality, reliability, timeliness and overall customer satisfaction within budgetary requirements. Operational activities include but are not limited to:

  • Input/adjust demand forecast in IBP Demand Planning System, fix purchase requisition of all SKUs in APO for import plan submission.
  • Coordinate with Supply Site-Logistics for shipping schedule and supporting documents for import clearance
  • Manage shipment and import and custom clearance by coordinating with shipping company, forwarder, broker, quality assurance, regulatory and distributor etc to ensure timely delivery to distributor warehouse.
  • Coordinate with distributor for goods receiving interface, verify correctness of transaction in SAP and coordinate with Accounting team to ensure timeliness and accuracy of goods receipt transactions.
  • Verify and sign the invoices/ credit note / debit note/ picking list / return goods prepared by Supply Chain Planning staff.
  • Administrate material master data, Bill of material in SAP and coordinate with other regional/global in order to align with international and global master data and template.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies in conjunction with Accounts Payables team, as needed.  May audit invoices and consolidated billing statement and research variances.
  • Monitor daily inventory movement by coordinating with Supply Chain, Accounting, Commercial and distributor, and to perform periodic reconciliation especially at month end to resolve any discrepancies and ensure integrity and correctness of inventory.
  • Manage and coordinate annual stock count with distributors, Accounting team and auditors.
  • Represent the company to external business partner organizations e.g. customs, freight forwarders, distributors, etc and ensure their compliance with Takeda’s company policies and procedures.

4. Any other ad-hoc topics

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Deep understanding of supply chain, logistics and distribution and strong expertise and experience in these fields.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP system (SAP) and other inventory planning systems, along with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is highly desired
  • Strong eye-for-details

EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain / logistics or related field, MBA is preferable.
  • At least 5 years in people leadership role
  • At least 10 years of progressive procurement/planning/supply chain/logistics experience within a multinational organization
  • Experience in pharmaceutical business is preferable.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some international travel (10%) within Asia may be required
