About the Role
This role works in close partnership with the International Business Unit (IBU) TA Medical Head to translate global medical strategy into effective prioritization and coordinated delivery across the IBU and Local Operating Companies (LOCs), while bringing forward IBU and LOC insights to inform global medical strategy.
The TA Lead acts as a key scientific and strategic partner, ensuring alignment, coordination, and impact across assigned therapeutic areas and products. Success in this role requires strong scientific judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on delivery.
How you will contribute:
Strategy Translation & Execution
Translate global medical strategy into actionable priorities for assigned TA/products and drive implementation across IBU and LOCs
Ensure alignment of medical activities across IBU in line with global direction and IBU priorities
Drive operationalization of strategic priorities across the assigned portfolio
Contribute IBU and LOC insights to medical planning, scientific narratives, and portfolio priorities
Foster alignment across markets and identify opportunities to leverage cross-country synergies
Scientific Leadership & KOL Engagement
Own and lead regional KOL engagement and scientific exchange for assigned TA/products, building strong scientific relationships and generating actionable insights
Act as a key scientific leader for the assigned TA, ensuring consistency and impact of scientific narratives across markets
Strengthen scientific capability across LOC medical teams by enabling aligned training, scientific exchange, and practical application of medical priorities across markets
Cross-functional Collaboration
Provide medical leadership within cross-functional teams (MCE, Market Access, R&D, GMA), ensuring effective integration of medical insights into key initiatives
Drive cross-functional alignment and coordination to support product priorities and execution excellence across assigned TA/products
LOC Enablement & Alignment
Enable LOC medical teams to effectively execute global strategies by providing clear guidance, alignment, and coordinated support
Act as a key interface across LOCs, IBU, and Global, ensuring timely flow of insights, alignment of priorities, and sharing of best practices
Identify capability, content, and execution gaps across assigned areas
Evidence & Insights
Contribute to identification and prioritization of evidence needs in collaboration with Global, IBU, and LOC stakeholders
Shape and ensure that IBU evidence needs, insights, and field perspectives are reflected in global medical plans, in partnership with relevant Global and IBU stakeholders
Support execution of evidence generation activities in line with agreed priorities and governance
Budget & Resource Management
Manage budget and resources for assigned TA/products, ensuring disciplined and effective utilization aligned with agreed priorities and governance frameworks
Skills
Therapeutic Area & Scientific Expertise: Strong TA knowledge with good understanding of clinical development, evidence generation (RWE, HEOR, Ph IV), and scientific narrative application in execution contexts
Strategy Translation & Execution: Proven ability to translate global medical strategies into aligned execution across IBU and LOCs for assigned TA/products
Cross-functional Collaboration: Strong ability to partner with Global Medical, MCE, Market Access, R&D, and other stakeholders to enable coordinated and compliant execution
Scientific Engagement: Strong experience in engaging with KOLs and external stakeholders, with ability to drive high-quality scientific exchange and translate insights into actionable outcomes
Matrix Collaboration: Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment across Global, IBU, and LOCs, ensuring alignment and coordination across stakeholders
Product lifecycle and field enablement experience: Experience supporting product priorities across different stages of the lifecycle, including launch readiness where relevant, and enabling aligned field execution across markets
Communication & Coordination: Strong communication and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities, drive clarity and timely execution
Operational & Financial Management: Experience managing budgets and resources for assigned activities, ensuring effective utilization aligned with defined priorities
Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent).
Typically 8 + years experience in Medical Affairs and/or clinical development in pharma/biotech.
Prior regional or global experience preferred.
