About the role:

This role leads professional engagement for designated franchise(s) within Takeda’s Foundational Therapeutics Platform business unit. This individual will partner with brand lead and cross-functional teams of the franchise(s) they support to ensure the development and execution of marketing plans and achievement of key business objectives on time and within budget to help Takeda better serve patients. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing professional engagement strategies and execution within therapeutic area. Remit includes identification, development and engagement with key opinion leaders (KOL) and community treaters, advisory board or consulting engagement planning and execution, HCP peer-to-peer content development, and HCP speaker management and training while overseeing execution of P2P education initiatives. This individual will also work with in collaboration with marketing, training, and cross-functional field counterparts to identify educational gaps and develop recommendations for content needs and HCP engagement in line with Franchise priorities. 

How you will contribute:

  • Develop and execute the annual professional engagement plan inclusive of thought leader identification, development and engagement in partnership with franchise cross-functional team. 

  • Partner with brand/provider marketing lead to develop peer to peer content ensuring content aligns with brand messaging and franchise strategy/strategic imperatives for that audience. 

  • Identify market trends and stakeholder insights on disease state and brand to inform brand and franchise strategic choices and investment planning. 

  • Gain concept approval, recruit, develop content/discussion guides, and execute advisory boards and consultant meetings to gain insights that would inform brand strategies and tactics. 

  • Provide speaker bureau program recommendation for franchise and (if applicable) manage bureau in adherence to all policies. 

  • Manage and execute symposia or product theatres at Regional and National Congresses. 

  • Manage KOL engagement platform to track engagements, organize insights, and ensure members of Takeda are set-up to show up as one company with enterprise alignment when meeting with customers. 

  • Manage budget and measure performance of programs/tactics reporting back to franchise on an ongoing basis. Specifically: 

  • Provide annual budget forecast recommendation for initiatives they lead; open POs and track spend against forecast; perform all monthly accruals and invoicing, and update forecast as appropriate for financial planning cycles – identifying any tradeoffs. 

  • Track initiatives against Annual Plan commitments and define and measure KPIs to shape strategic direction and optimize spend.  

  • Consult with legal, regulatory, and ethics & compliance to ensure all activities are compliant with policies and regulations. As a Project Owner of promotional tactics, responsible for working within the internal review process on a consultative basis to seek input on concepts and to seek required approvals for marketing strategies and tactics. 

  • Manage external agencies and consultants/contractors, holding them accountable to agreed standards and contract expectations. 

  • Serve as back-up for team members as needed and direct manager when requested. 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a focus in Biology, Marketing, Strategy, and/or Business Administration preferred. Advanced degree (MBA, MA/MS, PharmD, etc.) highly preferred.  

  • 7 years of progressively responsible marketing, pharmaceutical sales, or healthcare system/provider experience or related experience within the bio-pharmaceutical industry required. Demonstrated ability to manage strong customer relationships highly preferred. 

  • Experience in developing engagement plans for thought leaders / key opinion leader management and ability to comfortably consult with these customers. 

  • Experience in developing Speaker Bureau strategy, training, content development and speaker programs as well as regional/national symposia execution. 

  • Leadership skills with an ability to set direction, generate commitment, identify, and resolve issues, and evaluate risk. Equally important is the ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams at varying levels with a proven ability to influence without authority. 

  • Organization skills - used to planning months in advance and able to pivot to meet customer and business needs while being proactive in capturing and measuring/reporting on the execution of activities. 

  • Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.  

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously – showing strong acumen for prioritization and time management. 

  • Analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.  

  • Financial management and budgeting capabilities. 

  • Requires approximately 25-40% travel. 

  • Travel to Cambridge, MA office at least once every 2-months.  

  • Willingness to travel to various internal and external meetings and conferences that could include overnight stays ranging from one to several nights. Some weekend and/or international travel may be required.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$137,000.00 - $215,270.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
