As a company we offer roles based on merit, welcoming candidates of any gender, age, religious belief, sexual orientation, race, color, ethnic or social origin, or disability.
Our team is growing and for this we need bright minds with creativity and flexibility – what talent do you have?
About the Role
The Medical Communications Manager is Takeda’s external-facing scientific communications lead for GI2 (Gastroenterology and Inflammation), responsible for planning and executing medical education and omni-channel scientific communication—traditional, innovative, and digital. Partnering closely with DD&T (Digital, Data & Technology), Field Medical, and Medical Advisors, this role translates evidence into clear, compliant, and impactful narratives, orchestrates customer journeys, and uses AI-driven analytics and advanced CRM to continuously improve reach, engagement, and educational outcomes.
How you will contribute
- Scientific Communications Strategy: Own the GI2 medical communications plan aligned with the medical plan; define audiences, messages, channels, and success metrics; ensure scientific accuracy and consistency across assets.
- Medical Education (MedEd): Design and deliver accredited and non-accredited MedEd (e.g., symposia, webinars, masterclasses, microlearning), partnering with external experts and internal stakeholders; evaluate learning outcomes. Medical education initiatives should be strategically designed to identify and address critical educational gaps within the GI2 therapeutic area, ensuring that content is tailored to bridge these gaps and advance clinical understanding and patient outcomes.
- Omni-Channel Orchestration: Design scientific customer journeys and execute omni-channel campaigns (email, web, social, virtual events) in OCE automation; personalize content based on insights and KOL profiling.
- Content Operations & Review: Adapt/create scientific content (slides, leave-behinds, infographics, videos, FAQs); manage references, scientific narratives, and MLR review in Veeva Vault or equivalent;
- Insights & Analytics: Leverage data analytics and dashboards to measure reach, engagement, and impact; apply A/B testing and continuous optimization.
- Publications Support (Local): Coordinate with Medical Advisors and Global Publications on local publication needs (abstracts, posters, congress booths) in line with global/local publications policy.
- Collaboration & Governance: Work cross-functionally with Field Medical, Medical Advisors, DD&T, Market Access, PV, and Legal/Compliance to ensure aligned, timely, and compliant execution.
- Vendor & Budget Management: Select and manage agencies/vendors; track budgets, timelines, and quality; ensure SoW alignment and performance.
- Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all activities comply with Takeda-ism, SOPs, local codes, and regulatory standards; uphold fair-balanced, non-promotional scientific communication.
Skills and capabilities you bring to the role:
Critical Skills/Competencies
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences (PharmD/PhD/MD or MSc with equivalent experience).
- Native-level German or French; excellent English; ability to write and review scientific content with rigor and clarity.
- 2–4 years’ experience in Medical Affairs/Medical Communications; Immunology (Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis or Inflammatory bowel disease) experience is an advantage.
- Strong scientific writing, storytelling, and health literacy skills.
- High level of agility as well as teamwork skills and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration.
- High digital literacy: hands-on experience with OCE/campaign automation (salesforce marketing cloud), Veeva Vault (PromoMats/MedComms), and Microsoft 365 (Teams, Planner, Copilot).
- Data literacy and proficiency with AI-driven analytics (dashboards, experimentation, KPI tracking).
- Project and vendor management; ability to deliver multiple initiatives concurrently with high quality.
- Solid knowledge of compliance frameworks and local industry codes for scientific/MedEd activities.
Capabilities
- Scientific digital communication, medical education, and storytelling: Facilitate conversations with external experts to collaboratively develop medical education initiatives and scientific communication using evidence-based content; support trusted, two-way scientific exchange.
- Omni-Channel Design & Execution: Translate strategy into orchestrated journeys; optimize channel mix and content for engagement and learning outcomes.
- Stakeholder Influence: Align cross-functional partners and external stakeholders without authority; negotiate trade-offs to protect scientific integrity and timelines.
- Measurement Mindset: Define KPIs (reach, engagement, completion, MoA comprehension); run experiments and iterate.
- Digital Collaboration with DD&T: Co-create scalable, compliant, and privacy-safe solutions; support data governance and content taxonomy/metadata for findability and reuse.
- Innovation & Continuous Learning: Proactively upskill in AI, analytics, and emerging formats; bring external best practices into Takeda’s MedComms.
