Job Description
The People Solutions Payroll Lead – Europe is responsible for overseeing outsourced multi-country payroll operations across the European region. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery, while driving operational excellence, vendor performance, and continuous improvement.
The role partners closely with HR, Finance, Global Mobility, Benefits, and payroll vendors to deliver a consistent and people-centered payroll experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5–10 Payroll Specialists
- Ensure smooth payroll operations with clear roles and backup structures
- Oversee end-to-end outsourced payroll delivery across Europe
- Validate payroll inputs (earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, equity)
- Approve payroll controls and payment files
- Ensure reconciliations, compliance, and strong internal controls
- Support year-end processing, statutory reporting, and audits
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary escalation point for payroll vendor issues
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure SLA adherence
- Build strong partnerships with HR, Finance, Total Rewards, and Global Mobility
- Provide payroll expertise for system changes, audits, and projects
Operational Excellence
- Monitor payroll KPIs and service performance
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Maintain transparent reporting and a compliant payroll environment
Continuous Improvement & Technology
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation
- Leverage digital tools and AI-enabled solutions
- Maintain payroll documentation, SOPs, and knowledge resources
- Support payroll transformation and technology initiatives
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or related field
- 5–7+ years of experience in multi-country European payroll
- 2+ years of leadership experience
- Strong experience managing outsourced payroll vendors
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP GlobalView, SAP Payroll, Workday, ServiceNow, or similar
- Knowledge of payroll compliance, controls, and statutory reporting
- Fluent English + German or French
