Associate Director, New Product Planning and Business Development Forecasting Lead, Global Oncology

About the role:

The NPP-BD Forecasting Lead will be a highly visible team member in the Global Oncology Forecasting function at Takeda Oncology. The Global Oncology Forecasting team is part of the Global Oncology Products, Pipeline and Strategy (GOPPS) group, a strategic advisory group within Takeda that drives global strategic decisions and planning for in-line and pipeline products across Takeda Oncology.

The individual's primary objective is to contribute to the success of the global forecasting function through working with a global cross-functional team to assess commercial potential of early stage pipeline assets and BD opportunities. The individual will be a partner for the Senior Leadership Team in the Takeda Oncology Business Unit (OBU). The individual will proactively advise on the commercial strategy for Takeda Oncology's early pipeline and BD working with the Oncology NPP Marketing and BD leads at Cambridge, MA

The individual will lead the development and refinement of best in class forecasting capabilities, owning and communicating the long-term outlook and vision for Takeda Oncology's early stage pipeline assets and BD opportunities. Lastly the team member will support the generation of content with other members of the GOPPS and global marketing teams to drive effective decision making.

How you will contribute:

  • Ensuring that customized, global, strategic forecasts are developed for early stage pipeline assets and BD opportunities of interest with assumptions based on facts and research

  • Collaborate with team members from NPP, BD, market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, global pricing and market access, to make sure all relevant market insights inform the forecasts.

  • Lead the consensus-building process to gain alignment and/or endorsement for forecast assumptions with the senior stakeholders and Oncology Leadership Team (OLT)

  • Leverage advanced analytics and integrate data available across multiple sources to enhance our understanding of market impact of the assets being considered

  • Lead design, development and adoption of forecasting models that are flexible and appropriate for agile NPP/BD evaluation working with external partners

  • Effectively present and explain modeling assumptions to key stakeholders including senior leadership and triangulate assumptions with other data and forecasting model to pressure test them and develop “what if” scenarios.

  • Manage evaluations of multiple BD assets across multiple Oncology tumor types at the same time through pre-due diligence and due diligence stages

  • Lead identification, maintenance, and generation of data references/databases, analogs for continuously improving oncology epidemiology and other forecast inputs, across markets

  • Lead evaluations that provide range based forecasts, identifying key risk and opportunities of the assets under consideration

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the commercial BD team as they work to identify opportunities for evaluation during the search stage

  • Showcase consulting skills, including consultative listening, problem definition, hypothesis generation, data analysis, translation to value, and oral and written presentation for strong business impact and value-ad

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required, Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in forecasting, market research, or business analytics in the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience with advanced spreadsheets, patient based forecast modeling including dynamic patient models

  • Experience in oncology, hematology or similar specialty areas

  • Experience with quantitative techniques including smoothing, regression, time series analyses, and simulation Experience with data analysis and data visualization tools.

  • Product launch and Global experience Consulting experience with forecasting, market research or business analysis firm(s)

  • Expertise in Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Broad working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry databases

  • Working knowledge of global access and reimbursement policies, and competitive environment and potential impact on product development and commercialization strategy

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, including external vendors

  • Strong project management skills—ability to plan, organize and execute multiple projects efficiently

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

  • Ability to explain complex concepts to stakeholders in simple language and lead/drive consensus building

  • Demonstrated analytical skills combined with a client-service mindset

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to drive key business decisions

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$154,400.00 - $242,550.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
