Job Description
The Oncology Modeling group under Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics and Modeling (DMPK&M) is part of the Quantitative Pharmacology and Translational Sciences function, responsible for modeling support in drug discovery and development.
How You Will Contribute:
As an Oncology Modeling Intern, you will have the opportunity to:
Apply biophysics, statistical, and transport phenomena modeling concepts to oncology and drug discovery and development.
Collaborate with DMPK&M, Oncology Drug Discovery, and clinical colleagues to identify strategies and data requirements for model development.
Internship Development Opportunities:
Learn how to apply biophysics knowledge from academia to real-world R&D challenges.
Potentially publish or present a poster based on modeling work completed during the internship.
Job Requirements:
Must be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in biophysics, physics, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
Strong background in mathematical modeling of biological systems, biophysics, statistics (knowledge of statistical mechanics is a plus), transport phenomena (conservation law PDEs and stochastic PDEs).
Competency in coding in Matlab, Python, or R is required.
Proficiency with systems modeling approaches such as differential equations, stochastic, or other mechanistic modeling approaches is preferred.
Experience with transport in crowded/complex environments, immunology, image analysis, and quantification assays (e.g., flow cytometry, IHC) is a bonus.
This position is hybrid (1–3 days in the office) based in Cambridge, MA.
Track record of publications and/or conference presentations.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and planning abilities.
Demonstrated teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity.
Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Internship Eligibility
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later
- The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)
- The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
- Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
- Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
