About the role:

As a Lead Data Scientist, you are responsible for applying expertise to design, prototype, and build next-generation analytics engines and services. We are seeking an experienced and strategic individual who can develop tools and solutions to enable business insights and support complex decision-making. In your role, you will partner with Business Unit Leaders to model complex problems, derive analytical conclusions, and identify opportunities for improvement. Your day-to-day contributions will inform Takeda’s business strategy and establish conclusions that help the business to reach patients more effectively.

In this role, you will be a part of the PDT Digital Insights and Analytics team. This team drives business insights through IT data analytics techniques such as pattern recognition, AI/ML, and data modelling, to analyze and interpret the organization’s data with the purpose of drawing conclusions about information and trends. This role will work closely with the Data Science Seniors and Mids, as well as the DPE Senior and Junior. This role will align to the Cloud & Custom Development chapter of the ICC.

This position will initially report to the Manager – Tech Program Management for strategic direction.

How you will contribute:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to address complex business challenges
• Oversee and drive the lifecycle of data science and AI projects and products, ensuring successful and timely delivery
• Partner with various business units to identify and capitalize on opportunities for data-driven decision-making
• Present data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders
• Develop best practices and frameworks for AI and data science methodologies and tools
• Drive code quality and consistency processes ensuring high-quality, efficient, and secure AI and data science, while also fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in applied Math, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Economics, or other quantitative fields (PHD preferred)
• For master’s it is expected to have a minimum of 8+ years, a PhD it is expected to have a minimum of 5+ years of leading advanced analytics/AI/Machine Learning/Data Science experience in technology companies, Life Sciences, Pharma, Biotech, or relevant regulated industries (banking, insurance etc.).
• For a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 8+ years of production level experience.
• Excellent understanding of applied statistical methods and ML techniques (e.g. Clustering, Classification, Regression, Dimensionality Reduction, Ensemble Methods, Natural Language Processing etc.)
• Programming & Data Engineering: Strong coding skills in Python, PySpark, Scala, and SQL, data preprocessing, ETL in Databricks, code versioning in GitHub, and handling big data with tools for data curation, transformation, analysis modelling, and visualization tasks.
• Experience leading a team of Data Scientists / Data Analysts / Data Engineers
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, client service and technical writing skills for both technical and business audiences.
