About the role:
Reporting to the Global EHSS (Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability) DD&T Partner, the DD&T Platform Engineer will work with business teams, local delivery teams, and global technical partners to build large-scale systems and scalable platforms for the EHSS team. This includes building and maintaining the data transport, collection, and orchestration layers. The role helps shape the vision for next-generation infrastructure, making it easier for developers to build data-driven products and features. These efforts will improve access to business and user insights.
How you will contribute:
- Partner with business teams to understand priorities, processes, pain points, and functional requirements.
- Translate business requirements into application functionality, configuration needs, and delivery priorities within software-as-a-service platforms.
- Determine when business needs can be met through configuration versus custom development, and work with technical teams accordingly.
- Support product backlog development, requirement clarification, acceptance criteria development, and testing.
- Work with technical teams to support reporting, data validation, and testing of software-as-a-service application data, including downstream data consumption.
- Collaborate with teams that depend on shared datasets to identify scalable solutions for reporting, integrations, and downstream system needs.
- Build relationships across business and delivery teams to support execution and adoption.
- Contribute within software development life cycle delivery models and work across Waterfall, Agile, and Scaled Agile Framework ways of working.
- Build and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant, secure, and scalable platforms.
- Think through long-term impacts of key design decisions and handle failure scenarios.
- Build a complete understanding of tools, key business concepts such as data tables, and data and team dependencies.
- Help drive the storage layer and application programming interface roadmap and be responsible for overall engineering, including design, implementation, and testing.
- Build self-service platforms that empower users.
- Lead development of high-value projects and platform capabilities.
What you bring to Takeda:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience working with enterprise technology platforms, including systems development, configuration, and support.
- Strong experience in translating business requirements into functional design, configuration, and solution delivery, with clear differentiation between configuration-based solutions and custom development.
- Solid understanding of product and solution delivery practices, including backlog management, acceptance criteria definition, testing, and operating within SDLC, Agile, Kanban, and SAFe frameworks.
- Experience working closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, align priorities, and drive effective execution across onshore and offshore delivery models.
- Working knowledge of cloud fundamentals, particularly AWS, including experience with compute, storage, databases, Lambda, and associated services.
- Understanding of data and reporting concepts, including data models, data validation, downstream consumption, and scalable integration patterns.
- Hands-on technical skills, including systems configuration and development, with programming experience in SQL and Python.
- Exposure to AI-enabled solutions, including ML, GenAI tools, and AI agents, with the technical fluency to understand, configure, and support such capabilities within enterprise platforms.
- Experience implementing and using automation tools, such as Power Automate on the Microsoft platform, to streamline workflows and operational processes.
- Familiarity with ETL and data platforms such as Databricks (notebooks, job scheduling/monitoring), Tidal, or SFTP is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions around complex topics and drive them toward pragmatic resolution.
- Highly collaborative working style with strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
