About the Role
As aLead System Designerwithin the Plasma‑Derived Therapies (PDT) Technology ecosystem, you will serve as the senior technical design authority guiding the evolution, intelligence, and structural design of complex enterprise applications. With your experience in system design, distributed systems, engineering leadership, and emerging AI capabilities, you will define design governance,establishreusable design models, and drive product and platform modernization across the PDT landscape.
You will combine deep application and solution designexpertise, data‑driven thinking, and AI‑accelerated engineering approaches to ensure PDT systems are scalable, resilient, secure, and intelligence‑enabled. You will mentor technical leads, elevate engineering craftsmanship, and work cross‑functionally to align solutions with business capabilities and enterprise direction.
How You Will Contribute
Application & Solution Design (Expanded and Design‑Centric)
Lead application and solution design using clear structural design principles, layered solution models, modular decomposition, and domain‑driven concepts aligned to business capabilities.
Create andmaintainreusablesolutiondesign blueprints,canonicalmodels, service boundaries, and integration models that promote consistency across the PDT ecosystem.
Apply Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) techniques such as bounded contexts, aggregates, and ubiquitous language to create maintainable, business‑aligned systems.
Design systems using modern patterns including microservices, event‑driven workflows, cloud‑native components, and distributedcomputemodels.
Lead solution review forums ensuring designs meet expected standards across performance, resilience, maintainability, and cost effectiveness.
Break down complex business needs into clear problem statements and structured design options that engineering teams can execute effectively.
Select solution patterns (e.g., CQRS-style design, Saga-style coordination, hexagonal/port‑adapter models) based on suitability, longevity, and simplicity.
Strategic System & Platform Design
Guidethe overall structural design of PDT applications acrossNextJS,Node.js,ReactJS/modernfront‑end, SQL/NoSQL data layers,Heroku,AWS, EKS, and product-to-platform connectors.
Establish design governance, standards, and decision frameworksenabling predictable, high‑quality technical outcomes.
Lead system modernization efforts, refactoring initiatives, and cloud‑transition designs across legacy and modern environments.
Serve as the design backbone for cross‑product system evolution, ensuring cohesion and consistency across teams.
AI‑Infused Product & Solution Design
Introduce Agentic AI concepts into solution models, workflows, operational flows, observability, and developer tooling.
Design solutions that incorporate LLMs, embeddings, vector search, reasoning capabilities, autonomous agents, and AI‑powered insights.
Establish AI‑ready design patterns supporting semantic data layers, event enrichment, intelligent decisioning, and contextual logic.
Partner with data and platform teams to define the data structures, quality expectations, and processing flows required to enable AI‑powered features at scale.
Data & AI Orientation
Leverage data dashboards, metrics, operational telemetry, and analytics insights to inform solution design decisions.
Embed data quality, lineage, metadata definitions, and consistency rules within system designs to support AI‑driven behaviors.
Identifyopportunities to apply AI/ML fundamentals to elevate user experience, automate workflows, detect anomalies, and improve operational predictability.
Establish design guardrails for responsible use of AI across PDT solutions.
AI‑Augmented Developer Experience & Productivity
Champion the adoption of AI‑empowered engineering platforms including GitHub Copilot,or other similar AI toolsand intelligent reasoning engines.
Define best‑practice guidelines for using AI copilots for design validation, code generation, testingassistance, refactoring, and documentation support.
Integrate AI‑assisted processes for generating boilerplate components, design templates, impact analysis, dependency evaluation, and model validation.
Continuously evaluate emerging platform AI tooling to drive efficiency, quality, and engineering consistency.
Technical Leadership & Delivery Excellence
Conduct solution reviews, design assessments, and technical deep‑dives tomaintainhigh-quality design outcomes.
Develop reusable solutionartefacts—design templates, reusable service definitions, API models, logical flow diagrams, and deployment models.
Ensure solution designs translate into performant, secure, scalable, and maintainable systems.
Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, senior engineers, data teams, and security specialists to deliver cohesive solutions.
Lead estimation, solution planning, risk identification, and stakeholder communication in a clear, structured manner.
Mentorship, Design Governance & Collaboration
Mentor technical leads, senior engineers, and emerging designers to strengthen design thinking across teams.
Facilitate solution workshops, structured design sessions, and collaborative decision-making forums across PDT.
Foster a culture of innovation, clarity of design, technical discipline, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
14+ years of experience in system design, solution design, and enterprise-scale application development.
ExpertiseacrossNextJS, Node.js,ReactJS/modern UI frameworks, SQL/NoSQL,Heroku,AWS, EKS, event-driven workflows, microservice-style design, and integrationpatterns.Skilledin designing and building scalable multi‑cloud and cloud‑agnostic platforms.
Proven experience developing secure, resilient, and high‑availability public‑facing web and mobile applications withstrongfocus on cost optimization and operational efficiency.
Strong foundationin distributed caching, zero‑trust design patterns, and SEO optimization.
Deep understanding of reusable design patterns, distributed systems, API modeling, domain‑driven concepts, and cloud‑aligned architecture principles.
Experienced in architecting multi‑region solutions supporting business continuity, disaster recovery, and fault‑tolerant operations.
Strong grounding in modern application engineering practices, includingDevSecOpspipelines,IaCprinciples, security‑by‑design, and continuous validation.
Strong communicationskills with the ability to simplify complexity and drive cross‑functional alignment.
Demonstrated experienceestablishingdesign standards and governance practices across teams.
Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence solution direction across teams.
Preferred Requirements
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
Familiarity with secure engineering andDevSecOpstools includingCodeQL,SonarCloud,JFrog, and DAST tooling.
Experience with event‑streaming technologies (Kafka,AWSSQS/SNS).
Hands‑on use of platform AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Azure AI coding tools).
Exposure toMLOpsconcepts or AI‑enhanced system designs.
Experience in regulated environments such as healthcare, biotech, or pharmaceuticals.
Working understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and hands-on experience integrating AI‑driven features in solutions or engineering workflows.
