JOB TITLE:                           Automation Engineer (Internship)

REPORTS TO:                     Automation Lead

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To support and contribute to activities in the Automation Department, at Takeda Bray. This brief demands flexibility and cross-functional liaison and co-operation, combined with competent technical ability. 
  • Job Responsibilities for Student Intern – Automation Team
  • Support Bray Site Projects: Assist in the planning, execution, and support of automation projects at the Bray site, working closely with team members to contribute to various stages of project development and implementation. Gain hands-on experience in project execution within a GMP environment.
  • Engage in a Dynamic, Team-Based Environment: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across a diverse work setting, contributing to immediate, reactive tasks, recurring business activities, and longer-term strategic projects.
  • Update and Maintain Team & Site Documentation: Ensure all project documentation is accurate, current, and compliant with site standards. Maintain logs, reports, and records of automation processes to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Assist in Delivering the Automation Roadmap: Play a key role in achieving the goals of the automation roadmap by supporting project delivery phases, including planning, testing, and deployment.
  • Comply with Automation Documentation Standards: Adhere to established standards for all automation documentation, participating in policy, procedure, and standards development to ensure compliance and consistency across the board.
  • Contribute to Digital Tool Development: Support the development and implementation of digital tools designed to improve operational efficiency and streamline business processes, contributing to both the conceptual and technical aspects of tool development.
  • Assist in Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Engage in real-time troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve issues within the automation systems. Provide technical support, both in preventive measures and responsive actions, to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability.
  • Report Activities to Line Manager: Maintain regular communication with your direct line manager, providing updates on activities, progress, and challenges. Work closely with your manager to set and meet internship goals, track achievements, and align with project timelines.
  • Support New Automation Deployments: Contribute to the introduction, testing, and successful deployment of new automation technologies within the Bray campus, working with senior team members to learn best practices in system integration and user adoption.
  • Lead and Drive Assigned Projects: Take ownership of assigned projects, driving them independently to a successful conclusion. Manage tasks, timelines, and milestones with accountability, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in automation within a leading organization, emphasizing technical, collaborative, and professional growth.
  • GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive and promote the corporate values of Takeda-ism within the workplace.
  • Ensure timely completion of all SOPs, reading, training and assessment.
  • Other duties as required and directed by the relevant Manager or other Officer appointed by the Board of Directors.
  • EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  
  • Current participation in an Honors Engineering Degree (or higher), or related, discipline
  • RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous experience in an automation engineering role is advantageous
  • Python, AWS, Azure and Networking understanding a plus when entering this role
  • Exposure to PLC Logic  a plus when entering this role
  • SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Excellent spoken and written English is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under own initiative with some guidance.
  • Well Motivated.
