About the role:

The EHS Representative – Environmental Compliance and Sustainability (ES) will partner with Los Angeles (LA) and Van Nuys (VN) site personnel to promote a EHS culture, complete company safety and health policies, and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. You will support the following: environmental compliance programs such as storm water, wastewater, hazardous waste, medical waste, and air pollution; and, sustainability programs such as waste reduction, landfill diversion, reducing carbon emissions, and reducing water use. You will partner with subject matter experts from multiple departments to support the facility's ongoing compliance and risk reduction efforts. You will report to the Senior Manager EHS, Environment, and Stability.

How you will contribute:

  • Help develop and implement environmental and sustainability programs, including air emissions, storm water, wastewater, pollution prevention, hazardous waste management, and completion of environmental reports.
  • Support Sustainability Committees and programs.
  • Provide in-person training on environmental compliance and sustainability requirements to relevant partners.
  • Develop and implement applicable EHS programs to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Support audits and evaluation of current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support EHS team with environmental management system implementation per the ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Help develop and implement programs to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance programs.
  • Work with other departments in regular meetings to provide EHS support and to identify needs and gaps.
  • Support important partners within Manufacturing, QC Labs, Critical Systems, Maintenance, and Engineering organizations to provide support with compliance of applicable federal, state, local, and company EHS requirements.
  • Support EHS and Site MS Teams and SharePoint pages.
  • Participate in investigations to identify the causes with applicable corrective actions to reduce recurrence.
  • Participate in EHS inspections and Gemba walk which include identification of corrective actions and timely resolution of items identified.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 5+ years of related experience OR Bachelors' degree in science, engineering, EHS or other related technical field and 2+ years of related experience.
  • Solid, comprehensive knowledge of EH&S including related laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with federal and California regulatory agencies and their requirements (EPA, DTSC, CDTFA, CUPA, SWQCB, CARB, SCAQMD) for site programs such as: SPCC, SWPPP, IWW, Hazardous Waste, Medical Waste, and Title V.
  • Demonstrated experience in a research laboratory, biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date records.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency situations, and ability to analyze situations and provide necessary leadership on behalf of the department.
  • Identify hazards, improve, and promote practical alternatives for risk reduction and risk control measures.

Important Considerations

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 pounds and and move up to 35 pounds (with assistance) occasionally.
  • In general, you will do a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
  • Can work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.
  • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.
  • Will work in a cold, wet environment
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends.
  • May work in a confined area.
  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$67,900.00 - $106,700.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
