Job Description
The Takeda Thousand Oaks Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Some of our key responsibilities are as follows: Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Training and Education, Incident Response, Environmental Protection, Health and Wellness Programs, and Continuous Improvement: By managing these aspects, the our team helps ensure a safe working environment, protects the health of employees, and minimizes the environmental footprint of the facility.
Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college intern to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team within our Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations for the summer. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the safety and sustainability of our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Audits and Inspections:
- Assist in conducting regular safety audits and inspections of manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company policies.
- Document findings and help develop corrective action plans.
Risk Assessments:
- Participate in risk assessments for various manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
Training and Education:
- Support the development and delivery of EHS training programs for employees.
- Create educational materials and presentations on safety topics.
Incident Investigation:
- Assist in investigating EHS incidents and near-misses.
- Collect data, analyze root causes, and contribute to incident reports.
Environmental Compliance:
- Help monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, air quality, and water usage.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental reports and documentation.
Data Management:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Utilize EHS software and databases for data entry and analysis.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead EHS continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement safety enhancements.
Internship Development Opportunities:
- Mentorship and guidance from a team of experienced EHS professionals.

- Understanding of ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement Methodologies (DMAIC, PDCA, Critical Path) and Project Management Tools (RACI charts, GANTT charts, etc.)
- Proficiency with Digital Tools (Veeva, Intelex, Sphera/SiteHawk, PowerBI)
- Familiarity with core safety programs (Lockout-Tagout, Confined Space Entry) and Environmental Programs (Stormwater Protection, Spill Protection Control Plan, Sustainability)
- Familiarity with Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations
Job Requirements:
- This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+ days in the Thousand Oaks, CA office per week.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program or Master's degree program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Strong interest in EHS and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Prior experience or coursework in EHS and/or programming experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)
- Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering
- Highly reliable and a strong team player
- Flexible with an attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Internship Eligibility
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later
- The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates(June 2nd- August 22nd)or(June 16th -August 29th)
- The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
- Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
- Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:

Commuter Benefit: To offset your work-commute expenses, Takeda provides U.S. employees with a fixed monthly subsidy to be used for either public transportation (transit) or parking.
