About the role

In this role, you will support the Manager of Reliability Engineering by improving the reliability, design, and performance of manufacturing and support equipment in a fast-paced cGMP biotechnology environment. You’ll apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to enhance equipment, utilities, and maintenance processes, while measuring and reporting on reliability performance to demonstrate the impact of your improvements.

How you will contribute

  • ·Develop comprehensive maintenance strategies, plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), parts lists, bills of materials (BOMs), and maintenance frequencies for new and modified equipment.

  • ·Collaborate with safety, quality, and manufacturing teams to perform equipment importance level assessments, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.

  • ·Review, improve, and update maintenance SOPs, parts lists, BOMs, and ensure data integrity within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for existing equipment.

  • ·Analyze corrective work order data in the CMMS to identify trends and prioritize areas for continuous improvement.

  • ·Assess the functional equivalency of spare parts to optimize inventory and equipment reliability.

  • ·Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance personnel to perform or support equipment troubleshooting and problem resolution.

  • ·Conduct or participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to drive long-term reliability improvements.

  • ·Lead and execute Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) improvement projects within assigned areas.

  • ·Support and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.

  • ·Champion the implementation of predictive maintenance technologies to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.

  • ·Assist in the preparation for and/or participate in technical reviews of equipment design projects.

  • ·Contribute to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning activities for new or modified equipment.

  • ·Identify and drive opportunities for cost, waste, and energy reduction.

  • ·Manage assigned change control, Quality CAPA, and Safety CAPA tasks as required.

  • ·Report on project progress and operational metrics to stakeholders.

  • ·Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the maintenance and reliability team.

What you bring to Takeda

  • ·Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required, with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • ·Minimum of 1 years of experience in a reliability engineering role

  • ·Familiarity with GMP environments is a plus

  • ·Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively

  • ·Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project

  • ·Solid understanding of core engineering principles, including heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics

  • ·Experience working in a collaborative, team-based environment

  • ·Familiarity with biotechnology manufacturing operations such as cell culture, purification, aseptic filling, packaging, and supporting systems (CIP, SIP, HVAC, plant and clean utilities)

  • ·Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical and project-related issues

  • ·Proven ability to work cross-functionally and contribute as a collaborative team member

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$70,000.00 - $110,000.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
