Job Description
The Medical Affairs Head, Vaccines, Growth & Emerging Markets (GEM) is a senior position that will provide near and long-term strategic direction as well as development and oversight of the scientific platform in support of the product strategies for the organization's Vaccine products.
In the short-term, this will include a core focus on supporting the scientific understanding, launch and commercialization of TAK-003, the company's Dengue vaccine, across the following countries and areas that comprise the GEM region:
- Brazil
- Mexico
- SAM
- Russia
- EAMEA
- I-SEA
- TAS
Responsibilities:
- Lead regional initiatives to support licensure and introduction of Vaccine products, including efforts to support recommendations in national vaccination schedules and by other influential bodies.
- Serve as key liaison with national and regional non-governmental and governmental organizations on scientific, regulatory and vaccine policy issues for the Vaccines portfolio.
- Interact internally with Regional Leaders. Advise and negotiate, as required, to guide the overall activities of the Vaccines portfolio.
- Develop and maintain relationships externally through Advisory Boards, Professional Associations, Professional Meetings and Conferences, etc. to achieve scientific objectives.
- Provide medical direction and review for pre- and post-launch regulatory strategies.
- Train and support LOC Medical Affairs staff to introduce global vaccines into respective national programs.
- In conjunction with Global Medical Affairs, ensure that Regional and LOC medical needs are taken into account when elaborating global Medical Affairs strategies (including the need for regional and local epidemiological data and cost-benefit analysis, etc).
- Participate and contribute to GPTs as appropriate to develop and optimize clinical development and commercial strategies and plans for regional specificities.
- Ensure that medical activities in the Region and LOCs are compliant with all applicable local and regional regulations and obligations, as well as in line with Takeda’s own Ethical Guidelines and Business Practices. Ensure that all relevant regional staff are properly trained in these and other Takeda policies.
Education and Experience
- MD degree. PhD qualifications may be considered in the case of applicants who are established leaders in Vaccines.
- Minimum of 10 years of medical affairs or clinical development experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Vaccines expertise is an absolute requirement.
- Good knowledge of industry, vaccines business and products, countries in scope and key stakeholders’ particularities.
- Superior scientific, clinical and managed markets credibility.
