Job Description

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Describe the primary duties and responsibilities of the job.  Include only the essential functions of the job. Approximately 5 – 10 bulleted task statements should be identified).

  • Lead clinical development for MPD assets in Asia including China Acceleration Programs. Provide local therapeutic area clinical as well as general medical expertise in clinical developments, from clinical development plan, protocol development through study conduct, study completion, and China regulatory submission(s) such as NDA and sNDA filings.
  • Lead Asia/China Development Team and ensure alignment of the Asia/China clinical programs with MPD goals through effective communication with global leadership. Provide local clinical and scientific insight to global project leader and/or clinical science leader.
  • Provide expert input to Asian/China clinical studies, and lead protocol development in collaboration with global teams
  • Perform as local medical monitors for CRO partners on medical queries and issues
  • Proactively identify key investigators in the region and cultivate long-term collaborations.  Recruit and manage regional Clinical Advisory Board. Attend investigator meetings, deliver clinical presentations as needed
  • Provide medical expertise in interactions with regional regulatory agencies
  • Identify, evaluate and maintain potential partnerships for Takeda in the region (e.g. Academic Research Organisations, universities, etc.)
  • Provide clinical/medical support to any other regulatory interactions where necessary to ensure successful maintenance of marketing status of approved drugs in China

  • Previous experience of leading a clinical development team/matrix team with responsibility for studies in the region.
  • Previous experiences in conducting clinical studies, interacting with regulatory authorities for drug registration.
  • Superior communcation skills

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:(List the essential and desirable education and competency requirements to perform the primary responsibilities of the job.  Any minimum requirements should be noted.)

  • MD or internationally recognized equivalent plus minimum 8 years of clinical practice and/or research experience.
  • Direct experience in pharmaceutical development, or related field required
  • Previous experience of influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders is a plus
  • Ability to drive decision-making within a multi-disciplinary, multi-regional, matrix teams
  • Highly motivated, versatile self-starter who is goal driven
  • Superior communication, strategic, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Fluent in English and Chinese
