Job Description

Takeda Lessines is looking for a Junior MES Engineer to support and evolve our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) landscape, based on Siemens Opcenter. You will help ensure reliable shopfloor execution, accurate electronic batch records, and robust integrations with automation and enterprise systems—working closely with Manufacturing stakeholdersQuality, and the Automation team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day support of the MES platform (Siemens Opcenter): incident triage, troubleshooting, and user support with guidance from senior engineers.
  • On low to medium complexity modifications, act as a key contact for Manufacturing stakeholders : gather needs, clarify requirements, translate operational expectations into MES solutions, and support go-live.
  • Build strong collaboration with the Automation team: align on equipment connectivity, troubleshooting across layers (MES–SCADA/PLC & DCS), and coordinate changes impacting manufacturing execution.
  • Configure and maintain MES master data under change control.
  • Contribute to the delivery of MES for small to medium size projects (requirements, functional specs, configuration, testing, deployment).
  • Participate in computer system validation (CSV) activities in a regulated GMP environment (risk assessment, test scripts, traceability, evidence).
  • Support interfaces and data flows between MES and connected systems (e.g., ERP, historians, LIMS, SCADA/PLC , DCS layers) with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Maintain documentation (SOPs, work instructions, configuration specs) and support training materials for end users.
  • Promote continuous improvement: identify recurring issues, propose pragmatic solutions.
  • Participate to a “On Call” support level 2

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (pharma/biotech/med devices is a plus).
  • Interest or initial exposure to MES concepts.
  • Understanding of software lifecycle basics: requirements, testing, change control, and documentation.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Siemens Opcenter (Execution Pharma/Process/Discrete) or other MES platforms.
  • Familiarity with GMP/CSV expectations (GAMP 5 concepts, data integrity/ALCOA+).
  • Understanding of integrations (APIs, middleware, SQL basics) and industrial automation context (SCADA/PLC, DCS).
  • Experience with SQL queries.

Core Competencies / Skills / Leadership Behaviors

  • Motivated and eager to learn, with curiosity for shopfloor processes and digital manufacturing.
  • Team player who collaborates naturally with Production, Quality, IT, and Automation.
  • Strong communication skills: able to listen actively, explain technical topics in an accessible way, and keep stakeholders aligned.
  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work in a structured, regulated environment with strong attention to documentation, change control, and detail.
  • Professional working proficiency in English; French is highly valued for day-to-day collaboration in Lessines.
