Job Description

Join Takeda as theAssociate Director, Rare Disease Data Product Management our of our Cambridge, MA office. Where you will be responsible for managing and enhancing data environments that support the evolving needs of the Rare Disease Analytics, Sales, and Marketing teams. This includes staying current on trends and new developments in data analytics and creating a roadmap for new data sources and related capabilities, in addition to partnering with colleagues from Technology, Market Access, and Commercial Operation teams on technical, systems, reporting and data related initiatives.  The information contained within these data products is a critical enabler to increase accuracy, reduce cycle times for analytical projects, enable artificial intelligence, empower advanced targeting methodologies, and consolidate reporting.  

Additional responsibilities include driving improvements in the organization, processes, storage, and use of systems and data, and implementing data quality initiatives. Acts as a motivational leader ready to drive results in a team setting. This leader understands key business questions the Analytics & Insights team solves, including how to query and support the data.

How you will contribute:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact Rare Disease (RD) Business Unit (BUs) to coordinate all data product development and conduit to operational partners in Data, Digital, and Technology (DD&T), Commercial Operations and Business Solutions (COBS), Patient and Market Access (PAMA), and beyond.

  • Manage the requirements, specifications, and design of the data product environment to support analytical, reporting, and stakeholder requirements.  This includes partnering effectively across the Analytics team to triage issues and enhancements as well as to identify areas where we could expand our capabilities.

  • Ensure that internal and external teams providing development and ongoing operating services for data products have clear direction on expectations and lead an ongoing process where performance measures are reviewed to ensure continuous improvement

  • Manage any changes in upstream or downstream systems that impact data products and perform prioritization, requirements gathering, and provide implementation leadership.

  • Maintain stakeholder engagement and relationships across analytics functions outside of Commercial Analytics and Insights (CA&I) including COBS, PAMA, and marketing to proactively support business objectives

  • Partner with COBS and DD&T to ensure any changes to the data warehouse environments and field/commercial reporting platforms are consistent with business needs.   This includes the review and approval of any data model changes.

  • Partner with DD&T to ensure that technologies to support the Data or Reporting platform are supported and maintained to ensure availability for end users.

  • Work with CA&I senior staff managers to identify internal and external resource requirements and negotiate resources to meet brand team market access needs. 

  • Partner with analytic teams to develop Therapeutic Area and franchise-specific product knowledge as the lead individual responsible for understanding and capturing the business rules that are incorporated into the data products published for the user communities.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Statistics, Business, or Information Systems

  • 10+ years of experience in Operations / IT and demonstrated experience with Data Analysis, Metadata Management, Data Quality, preferably in Pharma

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Management including data architecture, governance, Data Modeling, ETL, Enterprise Data Warehouse and Analytics

  • 6+ years of experience managing in a matrix environment across levels

  • Proven experience with Sales and Marketing organizations, especially in a pharmaceutical context

  • Prior Experience with pharmaceutical data sources e.g., IQVIA, Komodo, Market Access, Patient Services, and Specialty Pharmacy

  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of the data development life cycle including Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, and Change Management.

  • 1+ years of experience in Cloud Data Platform technologies (e.g., Databricks) is required

  • Thorough conceptual understanding of designing and implementing data warehousing and associated services such as ingestion, curing, self-service, automation, and other internal and external consuming entities.

  • Understanding of data governance concepts and tools including Master Data Management

  • Fluency with the latest techniques involving Artificial Intelligence and GenAI and their potential applicability to commercial pharma teams.

  • Ability to guide a team in multiple project management modes including Agile

  • Proven project management skills, able to lead and manage large business change programs.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint including Advanced Excel experience (pivot tables, databases, macros, etc.)

  • Experience in supporting large scale system implementations.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of coding techniques in SQL, SAS preferred. Familiarity with Python, pySpark, and Spark is beneficial.

  • Master's degree

  • Prior working experience with BI tools such as Tableau or PowerBI preferred

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$153,600.00 - $241,340.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
