Job Description

The intern will join the Data Science Engineering team based in Cambridge, MA.This team is part of the Data Platforms group within USBU DD&T. The teamfocuses on building scalable data solutions, integrating data platforms, and enabling business insights through advanced analytics and emerging technologies. The team plays a critical role in developing engineering capabilities that support strategic initiatives across the organization.

The intern will support engineering efforts in Databricks, assist in developing proof-of-concepts (POCs), and contribute to data integration and visualization projects. They will also participate in GenAI initiatives aimed at enhancing business decision-making through intelligent data products.

How You Will Contribute:

As a Data Engineering & GenAI Intern, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate on engineering initiatives to build scalable data pipelines in Databricks.

  • Assist in developing POCs for best practices in data integration between Salesforce and Databricks.

  • Support the creation of data products that enable business teams to access actionable insights.

  • Build dashboards to visualize data and communicate findings to stakeholders.

  • Contribute to GenAI projects, including prompt engineering and intelligent application development.

  • Participate in technical discussions and document engineering approaches.

  • Work closely with your mentor on ongoing strategic initiatives.

Internship Development Opportunities:

  • Gain hands-on experience with Databricks and enterprise data platforms.

  • Learn best practices in data integration and dashboarding.

  • Explore Generative AI technologies and their applications in business.

  • Develop communication and collaboration skills through cross-functional teamwork.

  • Present your work to stakeholders and receive feedback from experienced professionals.

Job Requirements:

This position will be Hybrid out of the Cambridge, MA location.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or Spark.

  • Familiarity with data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) or CRM systems (Salesforce) is a plus.

  • Experience or interest in GenAI tools (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain).

  • Understanding of ETL processes and data integration concepts.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsand eagerness to learn new technologies.

Internship Eligibility

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later 

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates  

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
