About the role:
The Research Senior Scientist is responsible for managing and performing scientific research, development, and testing of new products, manufacturing processes, and raw materials. This role aims to advance scientific knowledge and contribute to therapeutic advancements, aligning with Takeda's mission to deliver Better Health and a Brighter Future to people around the world.
How you will contribute:
- Design biologics with extensive experience in molecular biology
- Design DNA constructs for Chimeric Antigen Receptors and TCRs
- Reformat protein/antibody workflows for expression and engineer solutions for multispecifics and innovative non-antibody fusions.
- Design DNA constructs for protein expression of antibodies, single domains, multispecifics, enzymes, membrane proteins, etc. in transient expression constructs or for lentiviral transduction in stable cell line generation or chimeric antigen receptor expression
- Independently set up high throughput cloning and automation to assemble and generate DNA constructs to advance protein generation for multiple projects across many therapeutic areas. Contribute to multiple projects, being a senior scientific consultant and guide the teams on which isoforms are relevant for target design.
- Manage large projects or processes with limited oversight from the manager
- Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals
- Provide leadership by mentoring junior scientists and leading research projects
- Collaborate across various scientific disciplines to achieve research objectives
- Make recommendations concerning the acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials
Skills and qualifications:
- PhD degree in a scientific discipline, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioinformatics etc., with 3+ years experience , or MS with 9+ years experience, or BS with 11+ years experience
- In-depth experience with biologics and novel antibody designs and applying knowledge to drug discovery projects.
- Extensive experience in molecular biology and reformatting protein/antibody workflows for expression and experience designing engineering solutions (multispecifics and innovative non-antibody fusions) for projects.
- Experience in intellectual property aspects as related to design and is experienced with bioinformatics approaches and algorithms that aid design.
- Familiarity with biologics workflows and ability to design new vector formats.
- Expertise in different molecular biology databases at NCBI, Uniprot, etc., and multiple molecular biology software tools, such as Geneious Prime and Biologics, Genedata Biologics, Snapgene
- Advanced proficiency in molecular biology, capable of executing and optimizing complex techniques like gene cloning.
- Demonstrates leadership by mentoring junior scientists and leading research projects.
- Effective collaborator with ability to work across various scientific disciplines.
- Strong project management skills, able to lead projects from conception through to completion.
- Problem solver, capable of addressing and overcoming research challenges.
- Innovative thinker with a track record of applying new ideas to solve scientific problems.
- Excellent communication skills, adept at presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
- Committed to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to therapeutic advancements.
- As an expert professional within the organization, you develop innovative solutions to complex problems aligned with organizational objectives. Your work involves addressing intricate issues, requiring in-depth analysis and judgment. You also engage with key contacts outside your expertise area and contribute to the development of new concepts and standards. Operating with considerable autonomy, you serve as a consultant to management and an external spokesperson on major matters, often working independently and leading function teams or projects. Additionally, you play a role in training and mentoring junior staff.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$133,000.00 - $209,000.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
