About the role:

The Manager, Global Scientific Communications is a dynamic role within Global Medical Affairs that collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver various projects in Neuroscience at a Global level under supervision. You will be responsible for leading the execution of key Scientific Communications tactics and activities, core scientific content, Scientific Communications Platform (SCP), HCP education, congress activities, digital initiatives, including the use of AI-enabled tools and platforms, as well as supporting the execution of publication plans with a sufficient level of independence and in close coordination/supervision by the NS Scientific Communications Lead and/or Group Lead. You will develop experience in the review of promotional and non-promotional materials, as well as expertise in industry publication practices and Takeda publication standards/SOPs.

How you will contribute:

  • The Manager, Global Scientific Communications provides support to Medical Communication and publication initiatives ensuring quality and timely delivery against the medical plan(s)

  • Develops strong understanding of the medical plan and supports the maintenance and scientific accuracy of the Scientific Communications materials for the assigned asset in close collaboration with the cross-functional team.

  • Supports the development and update of assigned assets
  • Supports publication planning: milestone tracking, author coordination, peer review, and vendor management. Summarizes scientific literature and competitive intelligence to inform strategy.
  • Supports congress planning and execution including booth and symposia development support, collection and generation of scientific insights. Provides post-congress support
  • Supports medical review during the promotional and non-promotional (e.g., disease state) material review. Over time and with increased expertise, may take on review responsibilities for certain materials.
  • Implement AI-enabled processes and tools to support congress planning, post-congress insight generation, and medical review workflows after aligning with key stakeholders
  • Explore digital tools, including AI, to accelerate material review and approval
  • Use Project Management digital tools to plan, execute, and monitor projects
  • Integrate AI-powered assistants, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, to help with scheduling, reminders, and providing quick answers to common queries.
  • May provide Medical Affairs representation during concept design of materials
  • Establishes an understanding of the International CMLR standards, and other applicable best practices to ensure that data are communicated in an ethical, compliant and accurate manner; Promotes and ensures good publication practices and principles among authors and the internal publication stakeholder community ensuring high scientific quality & alignment with compliance/legal requirements
  • May take on other independent projects as assigned
  • Ensure that assigned scientific communication projects remain on strategy, within budget, and are executed in a timely manner
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Scientific Communication and Publications best practices, including latest AI advancements and their integration into Scientific Communication strategies

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • ​Advanced degree (i.e., MPH, MS, PhD, MD or PharmD) in a biosciences discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the bio/pharmaceutical industry, preferably within a matrix structure with a roles (e.g. Medical Scientific Liaison, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Medical/Scientific Communications agency, Medical Education, Publications). Minimum of 4 years experience in the bio/pharmaceutical industry for candidates with a master’s degree.
  • Some experience in Medical Communication planning and execution, or translatable skills
  • Experience interacting with agencies
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in applying digital tools and AI technologies within medical communications or related functions.
  • Prior experience in epilepsy is an asset
  • Familiarity with international regulatory and legal guidelines regarding Medical Communication strategies and execution is an asset

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$123,200.00 - $193,600.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
