JOB LOCATION: Cambridge, MA

POSITION: Data Scientist

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Takeda Development Center Americas, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist with the following duties: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop descriptive, prescriptive, and predictive analytics, generating actionable insights to address complex business problems in drug development and market access; translate unstructured business problems into scalable data models, algorithms, and analytical frameworks, leading innovation through the full data science and machine learning lifecycle, from data engineering to model deployment; leverage advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to design and deliver data-driven solutions using Python, and create impactful visualizations with Tableau/Power BI for enhanced clinical and commercial decision-making; manipulate and analyze large-scale, high dimensional structured and unstructured datasets from clinical trials, real-world evidence (RWE), and regulatory databases (e.g., FDA), utilizing SQL and performing version control and cloud-based deployment on platforms like AWS; demonstrate expertise with pharmaceutical and healthcare datasets, including real-world data (RWD), clinical trial data, and drug safety information, proactively seeking insights through independent research and collaboration with subject matter experts in medical affairs, regulatory, and clinical operations; ensure high quality delivery of data science projects by implementing robust methodologies, quality control measures, and continuous improvement of data governance practices aligned with regulatory standards in Life Sciences. Up to 20% domestic travel required. Up to 80% remote work allowed from anywhere in the U.S.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, Data Science in the Life Sciences Sector, or related field, plus 2 years of related experience. Prior experience must include: collaborate with diverse stakeholders across functions to drive innovative solutions, transforming complex, unstructured business problems into data modeling and analytical strategies, and clearly communicating results and limitations; manipulate and analyze large, high-dimensional structured and unstructured datasets using query languages, managing code and version control with cloud computing infrastructure such as AWS; develop and implement data science projects across the lifecycle, using Python and visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI to create insightful analytics, along with descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models in the Life Sciences sector; mentor and support colleagues, fostering the growth of the data science community, while building expertise in healthcare and pharmaceutical data through research with variety of datasets and tools like Komodo Health and Definitive Healthcare. Up to 20% travel required.

Full time. $126,500 - $186,000 per year. Competitive compensation and benefits.
