About the role:

A dynamic and visionary individual is sought to join our organization as a highly engaged member of the USBU Enterprise Leader Development Team.  This team is a part of US Commercial Learning and Development (CL&D) which is part of the Commercial Operations and Business Solutions (COBS) function.  The Associate Director of USBU Leadership Development designs and executes the US leadership development curriculum.  This includes contributing to a robust cross-functional needs assessment, design and implementation of curricula that support excellence in current and future USBU People Leaders (Sales & Non-Sales).  The broad client scope of this role includes aspiring managers through to Director and VP roles within USBU.  The Associate Director is responsible for the creation, execution and evaluation of specific aspects of leadership development programming. This role partners closely with the Director of USBU Leader Development to execute on continuous improvement and robust program and performance impact measures. Programs will effectively instill Takeda leadership principles and values, coaching/mentoring skills, and identify trends in the evolution of work that affect high performing leadership roles.

How you will contribute:

  • Responsible for the execution of Takeda’s USBU Leadership programming curriculum for aspiring, 1st & 2nd line, executive and high potential leaders.

  • Provides recommendations, solutions and partnership to Directors and Vice Presidents of USBU businesses on the strategy and tactical improvements for leadership.

  • Ensures that the content of programming aligns with business goals and HR strategy through assessment of current and future development gaps using performance/needs analysis, 180/360 feedback, Internal Advisory groups and partnership with USBU Leadership.

  • Delivers and coaches leaders and executives in the outcomes of 180/360 feedback instruments.  Supports the creation of individual development plans.

  • Demonstrates active listening to stakeholder input to ensure ongoing initiatives meet/exceed stakeholder needs (competency, culture, leadership values).

  • Engage stakeholders and co-create content to drive leadership performance.

  • Follows a values-based approach to leadership education and development, based on Takeda-sim, Takeda leader values and general leadership principles.

  • Execute plans using contemporary learning approaches, designing and implementing long-term programs focused on a combination of formal instruction, experiential learning, coaching, and development experiences.

  • Partners seamlessly with the Field Leadership and Development organization to ensure synergy and standardization of key leadership initiatives.

  • Monitors and measures effectiveness of all phases of the USBU Leadership Training Program and utilizes compiled facts and data to make appropriate modifications where necessary.

  • Identifies and customizes content with external vendors and consultants to augment development initiatives to bring high quality services and materials to meet program needs.

  • Effectively manages assigned budget to effectively operationalize development and learning strategies.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Business discipline or Human Resources preferred)

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in Leader Development, Learning & Development, Sales and / or Marketing roles.  This includes:

    •  At least 3 years of successful people management experience

    •  A minimum of 2 years of learning & development (L&D) experience

  • Strategic Thinking: Notable executive presence to create, forecast, and articulate the USBU Leadership Development Strategy and programming.

  • Operational Execution: Ability to set priorities, deliver deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks in an evolving, dynamic marketplace. 

  • Capability Building: Able to lead the end-to-end process for building new capabilities / skills, increasing competency levels and measuring results

  • Training Techniques: Understands and connects the latest adult learning techniques and issues in large organizations to deliver tailored strategies and frameworks to a diverse set of stakeholders.

  • Communication: Ability to present, challenge and communicate to executive and senior executive levels.  Strong facilitation skills are essential for this role.

  • Interpersonal Relations: Demonstrates ability to develop strong relationships, credibility and trust. Ability to advise and collaborate with internal departments and partners.  Ability to communicate ideas and data both verbally and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner, in a variety of formats and media.

  • Leadership Experience: Has been a first-line people leader

  • Agility: Proven negotiation and problem-solving skills.

  • Coaching and Assessment: Experience in coaching either on the job or certified at all levels in the organization. Knowledge of various leadership assessments and ability to coach and debrief program participants.

Preferred: 

  • Experience as a 2nd line people leader

  • Sales experience, ideally as a people leader

  • Life sciences/pharmaceutical industry experience

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel to various meetings or client sites, including overnight trips; up to 40% travel.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$153,600.00 - $241,340.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
