The Opportunity 

A Data Platform Engineer is responsible for building the building blocks (Infrastructure, Pipelines, frameworks), maintaining, creating reusable frameworks and patters using cloud-native tools and Takeda approved COTS technologies that data solutions and platforms can leverage. They work closely with Architects, Product Owners,and Engineering teams to understand their needs and build data infrastructure and patterns to support complex data use cases aligning with Takeda’s Data & Digital strategy. To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in cloud/software engineering, experience with Data foundation, Integrations, AWS and its underlying services; and a passion for modern technology postures like Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, AI/ML and solutions.

Responsibilities

• The Data Platform Engineer builds platformsfoundation, frameworks, and tools for Data teams atTakeda, suchasIntegration, Cloud, machine learning and Advanced analytics tools. Weenabletechnology and products thatacerates the Data engineers, Data scientists and architects to build the data solutionsthat helps business make decisionsthathave a significant impact on Takeda.

• Building platform patterns and foundational frameworks in driving new processesusing cloud native/COTStooling and infrastructure-as-code.

• Be responsible in developing product mindset, time-to-market, Automation, CI/CD, self-service, governance, security, agile, team member, resilience, and user centricmindset.

• Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the Cloud Infrastructure.

• Data Platform engineersneeds to ensureall the governance, process, security, costs, privacy, reusability, business/technologyresilience, Optimized, scale, user experience, self-service and auditability are incorporatedinto the Data Platforms and frameworks.

• Data Platformengineers’pair with product and solutionengineering teams to understandtheirneeds and build data infrastructure to help them solve complex data use cases; creatingpractical, useful, and flexible tools, processes, and code to help deliverthe solutionsat scale to a hugeswath of data solutions. 

• The primary goal is the reduce the time to market for Solution/technology build, delivery adhering to WellArchitected frameworks. The engineerisresponsible to adher and enforcement.

• Be responsbile in implementing in finops, cost optimization, automation and sysops

• Implement data services to meet target architecture and business solutions.

• Build an extraordinary career and play a key role in creatingsolutionsthatwilltransformorganizations and help patientsaround the world.

• Work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to assessapplications, software, and hardware.

• Develop, coordinate, and administrateCloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS, Saas) and On-prem.

• Automate deployments, infrastructureas codeusingTerraform and ansible.

• Be responsilbe in building serverless infra/solutions with containerization, (Kubernetes, Docker) 

• Oversee governance and mitigate risk.Ability to implement the cost savingmeasuresismust.

• Work with cloud engineering, Operations teams to design and develop cloud native systems.

• Create, build, and implementapplicationsbased on modern cloud design patterns and cloud software developmentthatutilizes cloud computing and services in public, private, and hybrid clouds environments.

• Leverage cloud native services to drive innovation and increases speed to market in the software development life cycle.

• Work with technology, external and internal teams and vendorasneeded.

• MaintainapplicationDevOpsprocesses (CI/CD) and deployment pipelines to implement and support application and feature releases.

• Assist in system migration to the cloud, supportingrefactoring legacy system to modernize the application or integration services to leverage cloud native services and solutions.

• Continue to learn and growprofessionallyas a cloud native engineer.

• Building data infrastructure and ensuring the business and technologyneeds; Knowledge and experienceacross the infrastructurestackiscritical.

• The roleinvolves working with highly cross-functional, and collaborationacrossallmediums with business stakeholders, software engineers, data scientists, and data engineersacrossall of Takeda’s business unitsrequiresgoodcommunication skills.

• Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of integration solutions; explorearchitecturalalternatives, aid teams in identifyingtechnologies and making architecturaldecisions.

• Work with highlydemandingenvironment and work with team members.

• Manage AWS services and implement AWS services for solutions.

• Building repeatableprocesses for Cloud cost optimizationand compliance activities

• Collaborate with Cross Enterprise teams to implement and collaborate on platformservices.

• Determine the necessary technology competencies for teams together with unitleadership.

• Participate in release preparation and planning to determine necessaryarchitecturalimprovementsaccording to architecture roadmap and currentpriorities in unitbacklog.

Skills and Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Management Information Systems,Technology with 5 yearsrelevant work experience or master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience.

• 3+ Experience in modern Data Platforms and Cloud infrastructure

• 3+ Experience with cloud platform, preferable Amazon Web Services (AWS). Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Azure would be nice to have.

• Experience with Data Services, Serverless, Containers, Identify, Security, Privacy, Active Directory, Encryption/Decryptions, API, Streaming, Linux/Unix operating systems, web, and application servers.

• Goodfoundationworking in Enterprise Environments, Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, ETL/ELT, Advanced Analytics, AI/ML, DevOps, sysops and Data Management

• Experience in agile development.Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environmentsin agloballydistributedorganization.

• Strong communication skills with ability to alignorganization on complex technical decisions.

• Experience developing full stack Product/solutions and utilizing software build and deployment tools like GIT or similartechnologies.

• 3+ years of experiencedeveloping full stack solutions and utilizing software build and deployment tools

• 3+ years of cloud native languageexperience (Lambda, shell, Node.js, Python)

• Experience working with IaaClanguages (Terraform (preferable),Chef, Ansible, CloudFormation)

• Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

• Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices, laws and regulations.

• Exceptionalanalytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills.

• Ability to researchissues (Technical/non-technical), standards, and products asrequired.

• Ability to effectivelyprioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Demonstratedability to interpret technical information and apply it to corporate goals.

• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting skills, and experience with FinOps or SysOpsexperience,

• Experience developing full stack Product/solutions and utilizing software build and deployment tools like GIT or similartechnologies

• 3+ year of experience and good understaidning on cloud serverless solutions and infrastructure(S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda Functions, ElastiCache, SQS, MQ, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, RDS, Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, AWS ECS, Fargate), IAM, Redshift, AWS DevopsStack, EC2, CFT, FSX,  Appflow,Glue,Boto, CLI, Cloud trail, Cost explorer,Sagemaker, Comprehend, Textract, VPC, S3, EBS, EFS, FSX, VPC, SG, NACL, ACLetc), oracle, networking, firewalls, data centers, severs/vm’s.

• Experience in designing the cloud build, CI/CD and deployment tools (Git, Beanstalk, OpsWorks, CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy)PC, EC2, S3, EBS, EFS, VPC, SG, NACL etc)

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Experience with Databricks, Informatica Big Data Management, Snowflake, Qlik, Power BI, Lambda, Node.js, Python, Spark, perl, Kafka, Mulesoft, IDMC, Tableau, Graph DB, AI/ML Ops, Dataiku, Data robot, Github, ansible, terraform, Cft, shell, Splunk, Appdynamics, Cloudability, Apptio, airflow, Globalscape, pandas, numpy, wiz, sonarcloud.
