Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
At Takeda, we put patients first. As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Croatia, you will serve as a Therapeutic Area (TA) scientific expert and play a key role in executing the local Medical Affairs strategy and medical/clinical plan for your TA(s). You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and engage external stakeholders—primarily Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare organizations—to support evidence-based decision making and patient access to Takeda medicines.
This is a field-based role, with approximately 60 % of time spent in the field engaging with external stakeholders (including virtual engagement as appropriate).
HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE
Medical strategy, planning & execution
Co-develop and execute local Medical Affairs activities and the TA Medical Plan, aligned with the local Brand Plan and Area/Regional/Global Medical Plans (where relevant).
Utilize in-field insights to shape medical/scientific strategy and support business development.
Create and/or support the development of medical/scientific materials (e.g., MSL slide decks, advisory board materials).
Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and internal SOPs.
Support planning and implementation of patient access programs/initiatives in line with local requirements.
Provide medical expertise for local adverse event review and contribute to pharmacovigilance activities.
KOL engagement (approximately 60 %)
Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with KOLs and other external stakeholders.
Represent Takeda with a strong medical voice in the therapeutic area.
Lead and/or support scientific exchange and key medical activities (e.g., advisory boards, focus groups, medical education and peer-to-peer trainings).
Support identification and development of local TA experts and potential international engagements.
Cross-functional collaboration
Provide medical/scientific input into the Brand Plan as part of the cross-functional Brand Team.
Deliver medical reviews of promotional materials and ensure scientific content is fair, balanced, evidence-based, and compliant with local requirements and Takeda policies.
Provide scientific support and training to internal stakeholders (Medical, Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory, etc.).
Participate in Area/Regional/Global Medical Affairs initiatives.
Data generation & dissemination
Execute local data generation/dissemination plans aligned with the Medical Plan.
Support local data generation programs addressing unmet needs and value demonstration gaps.
Collaborate with clinical operations (based on written requests) to help enable inclusion of local patients in global trials.
Omni-Channel Engagement & insights
Apply omni-channel engagement (OCE) principles to deliver the right content via the right channel at the right time.
Use engagement technologies and platforms (e.g., CRM/Veeva and Takeda ecosystem tools) to capture insights and improve stakeholder experience.
Routinely collect and enter qualitative and quantitative insights from face-to-face and virtual interactions to support data-driven planning.
WHAT YOU BRING TO TAKEDA
Education
Required: Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or similar discipline, or medical graduates.
Preferred: Advanced degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, MPharm, PhD, etc.).
Experience
Required: at least 1- 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs in pharma/healthcare/academia, experience in the Gastroenterology TA
Preferred: Product launch experience; experience in the Rare disease TA; international and/or matrix experience.
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, including professional English (written and spoken); local language fluency required.
Strong presentation, planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
Analytical mindset, high integrity, and strong compliance orientation (“Takeda-ism”).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working with CRM/insight tools.
Travel
Ability to travel to meetings/client sites, including overnight travel and occasional weekend commitments.
