OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
The Head of Marketing in Japan Oncology BU is responsible for leading the Japan Oncology Marketing organization and setting the strategic direction for and ensuring the optimal commercialization potential for all oncology products marketed and to be marketed by Takeda in Japan so that Japan Oncology BU can deliver the products to patients with a sense of urgency
S/he will work closely with a multitude of functional groups, including but not limited to Sales, Commercial Excellence, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy & Communication and Finance in Japan Oncology BU as well as Global Oncology Marketing and departments in Japan Pharma BU. (e.g. Marketing)
S/he will have direct supervision within Marketing of teams that comprise of Brand Marketing, In-field Marketing, Omnichannel, Forecasting & Data Analytics, Competitive Intelligence, Market Research and Marketing Capabilities
Key member of the Japan Oncology Leadership Team and member of Global Brand Teams to provide regional strategic insights on brand strategy, treatment landscape, unmet needs, positioning, messaging, pricing etc to better serve patients, built trust, reputation and business. In addition, serves as member of the Joint Steering Committee with alliance products
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership, Strategy and Execution
Empowered to lead, develop, and execute Japan promoted brands strategies that include identification of key market issues, critical success factors for the disease areas, brands, brand positioning and messaging including competitive strategies, marketing as well as cross-functional tactics. Lead and champion brand visions for JP promoted brands.
Conduct analysis, synthesize strategic inputs, and provide strategic recommendations related to promoted brands and late stage pipeline for the Japan market. Establish one coordinated plan and prioritized investment mix across Japan Oncology BU to deliver upon strategy.
Oversee the execution of Japan brand marketing strategies, plans and programs, both short- and long-term in alignment with the established brand global strategy while ensuring compliance with Japan laws, regulations and company guidelines of all marketing activities.

Ensure compliant and effective execution of Japan marketing tactics in the areas of promotional campaigns and material and congresses.

Customer Centricity
Work collaboratively with Japan KOL(key opinion leaders), academic institutions, cooperative groups, and professional and patient advocacy groups to validate marketing approach and secure launch readiness for possible new indications or new products in Japan.
Appropriately and compliantly contribute to as needed to public relations activities, scientific data assessments and KOL/advocacy engagements.
Defining the Future
Identify market research needs, aligns on market research plans with Insight/Planning and Development in Japan Parma BU, and translate competitive intelligence into product strategies and forecasting assumptions.
Coach/Mentor Team and Build/Enhance Internal Capabilities
Improve internal coordination, processes, communication and efficiency.
Partner with cross functional group by providing expertise and insights, and well founded recommendations.
Hire, coache, develop, and retain managers and staff members.
Create compelling and robust development and succession plans for all key positions within the group.
Inspire, align, mentor, motivate and mobilizs teams.
Design and execute marketing skills development programs for continuous learning of team members.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
Educational Background
Minimum BA/BS degree in business, marketing, scientific field, or other related field required. MBA or relevant Master degree is preferred.
Professional Background and Expertise
Minimum of 10+ years working experience, or 5+ years of pharmaceutical and/or health care experience.
Track record and strong knowledge of successfully defining, developing, marketing of products. New product launch experiences a plus.
Understanding and knowledge of the drug development, regulatory agencies and commercialization process for specialized products (oncology preferred) a plus.
Superior analytical/financial skills and ability to complete deep quantitative and qualitative analysis of complex strategic initiatives; including a self-starting understanding of the tools and methodologies to develop assumptions for business case, financial model, forecasting, market and competitive analysis, regulatory.
Ability to understand and manage brand-level and franchise P&L to deliver expected financial KPIs
Very keen on disruptive digital technology as well as development of peripheral industries(e.g. diagnostic) to further transform the way of engaging with KOLs and stakeholders in new working environment to bring more values to patients
Ability to demonstrate agility to adapt fast-changing external environments to develop the GTM models from scratch
Leadership and Management Capabilities
Experience in a leadership role within a multi-functional commercial organization.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence, lead, negotiate and work effectively at all levels within a matrix and multi-cultural environment by embracing “Diversity and Inclusion”.
Enthusiasm, confidence, ability to develop capability of the organization and individuals in his/her team.
Capability of demonstrating enterprise strategic thinking, initiative and creativity.
Ability to develop and evaluate holistic business cases including overall corporate investments(e.g. NPV, IRR, ROI or other major KPIs)
