Company Profile:

Takeda's Singapore biologics manufacturing facility focuses on manufacturing potentially life-saving medicines for patients suffering from rare blood disorders such as Hemophilia A and B. As part of the company’s Biologics Operating Unit network, the site is Takeda’s only biologics drug substance manufacturing facility in Asia.  The facility has two buildings, including manufacturing suites and laboratories, as well as Takeda’s first positive energy building certified by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority’s Green Mark scheme in 2022.

About the role:

The Facilities Systems Engineer II is recognized within Takeda as technical subject matter expert (SME) for both HVAC and Clean Utility systems. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Plant Engineering. Ensure HVAC and Clean Utility systems are operating as intended to meet the requirements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Proficiency with troubleshooting of HVAC and Clean Utility systems and performing formal root cause analysis investigations

How you will contribute

  • Responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the below systems

    • Clean Utilities and Heating Ventilation Air- Conditioning (HVAC) Operations.

    • Process Glycol chiller operation

    • Other Utilities equipment

  • Raise and Lead the Quality Event (Deviation) process and ensure timely creation, analysis and closure of events

  • Raise and lead Change Control for implementation of changes to equipment / facilities

  • Troubleshoot and fault find equipment’s which are not operating within expected parameters when identified. Responsible for developing the required preventive, predictive maintenance and calibration program, and spares identification for HVAC and Clean Utility systems.

  • Review and analyze HVAC and Clean Utility systems trends and identify issues and improvement opportunities proactively as part of the continuous improvement initiatives

  • Escalate issues to department Lead/Manager as appropriate following initial troubleshooting if issues cannot be resolved

  • Develop / revise operation and maintenance procedure, risk assessment and equipment LOTO procedure.

  • Plan / review equipment isolation, LOTO and support Permit-to-Work issuance in operation area.

  • Perform equipment operation check after maintenance / repair work prior to returning equipment back to operation (Return to Operation Activities).

  • Provide technical support to Utilities Senior Associate / Associate Engineer through knowledge sharing and training.

  • Lead continuous improvement or asset improvement (eg. energy reduction & CAPS) projects in area of responsibility to ensure they are performed as per the planned schedule, within budget, and comply with current regulatory and technical requirements.

  • Plan and perform shutdown activities, working / co-ordinate closely with shutdown lead

  • Responsibility to adhere to any applicable EHS requirements.

  • Commitment to a fair and respectful relationship with others and behaviour in accordance with Takeda’s Code of Conduct.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What you bring to Takeda:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical/Chemical engineering or equivalent Engineering Discipline with minimum 3 years of experience is required.

  • Diploma in Mechanical/Chemical engineering or equivalent Engineering Discipline with >5 years of experience is required.

  • Strong technical and safety knowledge and experience in Utilities or Facilities Management.

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships between teams, departments and business units.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize work in the face of shifting demands and tight deadlines.

  • Continuous Improvement and Project experience.

  • Steam Engineer Class 2 (preferable).

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Leadership, teamwork, and communication skills

  • Good Operation knowledge in HVAC and Clean Utility systems.

  • Strong equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

  • Good writing skills are essential for investigations, reports and proposals

  • A team player with good co-workers and stakeholders’ management and good interpersonal skills
