Job Description

Takeda’s Los Angeles site is a cornerstone of our global Plasma Operating Unit, specializing in the production and distribution of plasma-derived therapies. About the role:
As Director of Environment, Health, and Safety and Security (EHS) at Takeda’s Los Angeles site, including our manufacturing facility and Van Nuys warehouse, you will lead a dedicated EHS team to ensure a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace. Reporting to the Site Head and working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, you will promote a safety-focused culture and ensure regulatory compliance.

How you will contribute:

  • Provide thoughtful leadership, coaching, and support to the EHS team at the Los Angeles facility and Van Nuys warehouse, fostering a culture of inclusion and safety.
  • Oversee all EHS programs, including site security services, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements.
  • Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with employees at all levels, while representing the site to regulatory agencies and on the site leadership team.
  • Lead development and implementation of EHS management systems and procedures (ISO 14001 and 45001).
  • Guide occupational health programs with on-site providers and direct emergency and crisis response.
  • Advance sustainability initiatives and ensure preparedness for inspections and audits, addressing any findings promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), Title V AQMD regulations, and related safety requirements.
  • Apply and champion HAZOP and other process hazard analysis (PHA) methodologies.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, EHS, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of EHS experience, including at least 7 years in leadership roles.
  • Professional certification in environment or safety (e.g., CHMM, CSP, CIH).
  • Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOT, ISO 14001/45001, OSHA PSM, and AQMD Title V.
  • Experience leading EHS programs, acting as the site EHS representative, and promoting process safety.
  • Familiar with HAZOP and PHA methods.
  • Ability to build and motivate diverse teams, influence across the organization, and communicate clearly at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational and strategic skills.

Physical requirements, working conditions, and travel:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.; role involves office work and facility walkthroughs.
  • Requires gowning and protective clothing in controlled areas; restrictions on makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, and nail polish may apply.
  • May be required to work in cold, hot, wet, or confined environments.
  • Flexible schedules might involve multiple shifts, weekends, or occasional overtime.
  • Minimal travel of less than 5% may be necessary.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals and biological agents that require specific PPE.

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. We are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.

For Location:

USA - CA - Los Angeles

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$174,500.00 - $274,230.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
