Job Description
About the role
Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering assigned site and inter‑site related projects, including but not limited to process improvements, equipment installations, and facility upgrades or expansions. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within approved scope and budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of project objectives and facilitate successful outcomes, contributing input to project prioritization and portfolio discussions to advance site objectives.
How you will contribute
Project Leadership and Execution:
Lead cross‑functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of assigned projects such as process optimizations, facility upgrades, capital expenditures, equipment installations, and other site initiatives
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, on budget, and to the required quality and safety standards
Project Scope, Scheduling, and Budget Management:
Collaborate with key stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and schedules using standard project methodology tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Jira)
Track project milestones and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and cost
Stakeholder Management and Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all project‑related communications for assigned projects
Facilitate regular project meetings to review progress, address issues, and drive decisions
Provide clear status reports to stakeholders and leadership (e.g., progress, risks, mitigation actions, and key decisions)
Risk Management:
Identify potential project risks early and develop mitigation plans
Monitor risks throughout the project lifecycle and adjust plans as needed
Resolve issues proactively and escalate to sponsors or senior management when necessary, engaging Steering Committee members as required
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all projects and related tasks comply with Takeda global and local health and safety regulations, quality standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP, OSHA, ISO as applicable), and local and global SOPs
Lead efforts to manage health, safety, and environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle
For projects requiring Quality System adherence (e.g., Change Control, Documentation Control), initiate, own, lead, and manage Quality System records to ensure timely completion
Maintain all required project documentation per the Project Management Lifecycle, including agendas, meeting minutes, action logs, risk registers, spend reports, and other audit‑ready materials
Partner with relevant departments to ensure compliance with internal Quality Assurance and regulatory guidelines
Resource and Team Coordination:
Coordinate project resources to ensure effective utilization of team members and equipment
Lead and mentor project teams by providing guidance, tools, support, and removing obstacles to achieve project goals
Manage external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives through project management practices and process optimization
Support adoption of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile) and application of Lean Six Sigma principles and other best practices
Project Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation in accordance with local and global procedures and standard project management practices
Monitor timelines, milestones, and performance metrics and report as required
What you bring to Takeda
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related scientific field
4+ years of relevant project experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Demonstrated success delivering projects of varying complexity, including capital projects, in a GxP manufacturing environment within budget and on time
Working knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Lean/Six Sigma)
Experience applying Organizational Change Management to project execution
Strong stakeholder communication skills and ability to lead cross‑functional teams
Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Asana, JIRA, or similar)
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
Technical and functional expertise:

Strongly preferred:
Project Management Professional certification or similar
Lean or Six Sigma experience
Master’s degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline
Experience managing projects in GxP manufacturing environments such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or food and beverage
Experience managing capital expenditure projects, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
Strong understanding of global regulatory expectations and agencies such as FDA and EMA
Important considerations:
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure product quality is not compromised. In this role, you:
Physical demands:
Ability to push, lift, pull, and carry up to 10 lbs
Ability to perform both sedentary work and routine walking to observe facility and project‑related activities
Working environment:
100% on‑site role with daily interaction with manufacturing and cross‑functional teams across two local facilities
Occasional travel for vendor visits, other site visits, and project meetings may be required
Flexibility to work multiple shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed
Travel requirements:
Occasional travel may be required to visit other company locations, vendor sites, or project‑related meetings

USA - IL - Round Lake Innovation ParkU.S. Base Salary Range:
$99,500.00 - $156,420.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
