The core mission of Target Validation Sciences (TVS) is to drive pipeline value creation and acceleration by collaborating closely with Computational Sciences (CS) and aligning with Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) disease strategies. TVS focuses on validating drug targets using cutting-edge biological platforms that reflect relevant human biology, consistently delivering high-quality program starts to sustain the Research goal of 5-7 high quality INDs annually.
This position engages in validating therapeutic concepts by leveraging the knowledge and expertise in neuroscience research field. The person in the role also collaborates internally and externally to establish advanced platforms and generate program starts, aiming for minimal post-program attrition.
Target Validation Science(TVS)のコアミッションは、創薬ユニット(DDU)の戦略と連携し、Computational Science部門(CS)と密に協力しながら、パイプラインの価値創出と加速化を推進することです。TVSは、ヒト病態を反映する最先端の生物学的なプラットフォームを用いた創薬ターゲットの検証に重点を置き、研究部門の目標である年間5-7個のIND(Investigational New Drug Application)を達成するという研究目標を継続的に支えるために、質の高い創薬プログラムを着実に開始させることに注力しています。
このポジションは、ニューロサイエンス研究の専門知識を活用し、治療コンセプトの実験的な検証に携わります。また、社内外のコラボレーションを通じて先進的なプラットフォームを確立し、創薬プログラムを開始させることに重点を置き、プログラム開始後の脱落率を最小限に抑えることを目指します。

- Hypothesize, design and execute research activities to validate drug targets, leveraging expertise in neuroscience research and diseases fields (eg. dementia, ALS) to deliver program starts, particularly in communication with the CS and DDU teams.
- Proactively collaborate with internal and external partners to introduce or utilize cutting-edge technologies, such as iPSC-derived neuron models and clinal samples.
- Understand and align research strategies and goals, discussing with internal/external colleagues to ensure the delivery of impactful, high-quality program starts that contribute to Takeda’s innovation-driven research objectives.

- 社内外のパートナーと積極的に協力し、iPS細胞由来の神経細胞モデルや臨床検体などの最先端の技術を導入・活用する。
- 研究戦略や目標を理解し、社内外の関係者と効果的な議論をすることで、タケダのイノベーションドリブンな研究に貢献するインパクトのある質の高い創薬プログラムスタートを確実に実現する。
Accountabilities:
- Work with the supervisor and stakeholders to design, execute, and interpret in vitro and ex vivo experiments to validate drug targets, focusing on proof concept and understanding mechanism of action in neuroscience-related diseases.
- Propose novel ideas, procedures, and improvements for target validation, leveraging internal data, insights from CS and DDU collaborations, and the latest scientific literature.
- Play an active role in scientific discussions and conribute to decision-making as a professional and knowledgeable scientist in the neurosciece research field.
- Report and consult with the supervisor on potential issues in a timely manner.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with internal cross fuctional teams and external stakeholders to achieve research goals.
- Cultivate deep trust and foster a collaborative environment within the team, encouraging mutual respect and support among group members.
- 上司やステークホルダーと協力して、ニューロサイエンス関連疾患における創薬コンセプトの証明と作用機作を理解することに焦点を当て、創薬ターゲットを検証するためのin vitroおよびex vivo実験のデザイン、実行、解釈を行う。
- Neuroscience DDUやCSチームなどの主要なステークホルダーと連携し、社内データや最新の科学文献からの知見を活用することで、ターゲットバリデーションのための斬新なアイデア、実験的手法、改良点を提案する。
- ニューロサイエンス領域において、専門的な知識を持つサイエンティストとして、科学的な議論に積極的に参加し、意思決定に貢献する。
- 潜在的な問題をタイムリーに上司に報告し、相談する。
- 研究目標を達成するために、社内のクロスファンクショナルなチームや社外のステークホルダーと効果的かつ協力的に働く。

Requirements:
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in a relevant scientific field such as cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. Expertise in neuroscience is required.
- Additional post-doctoral training or relevant industry experience is preferred.
- Expertise in neuroscience research and diseases.
- Hands-on experience in neuroscience research, conducting experiments such as iPSC-derived neuron models and clinical samples.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, enabling innovative research approaches to scientific challenges.
- Deep understanding of data management and analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.
- Written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese.
