Job Description
About the Role:
The EHS Specialist II, Health, Safety, Environmental Compliance and Sustainability will be responsible for partnering with Covington site personnel to promote a strong EHS culture, execute company safety and health policies, and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. This position will support the following: All site and corporate EHS programs, compliance auditing and ISO14001/45001 Management Systems. This role will interface with subject matter experts from various departments to support the facility’s ongoing compliance and risk reduction efforts.
How you will Contribute:
Support audits and evaluation of current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Support EHS team with health, safety and environmental management system implementation per the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Develop, implement and monitor applicable EHS programs to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
Support the development and implementation of programs to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance programs and environmental and sustainability programs.
Participate in EHS inspections and Gemba walks which include identification of corrective actions and timely resolution of items identified.
Interact with other departments in regular meetings to provide EHS support and to identify needs and gaps.
Support EHS and Sustainability Committees, initiatives, and programs.
Provide in-person training on EHS compliance and sustainability requirements to relevant stakeholders.
Support key stakeholders cross-functionally within Manufacturing, QC Labs, Critical Systems, Maintenance, and Engineering organizations to provide support with compliance of applicable federal, state, local, and company EHS requirements.
Lead, participate and complete investigations to effectively identify the root causes with applicable corrective actions to mitigate reoccurrence.
What you Bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or GED plus 4+ years of related EHS program and implementation experience or bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, science, engineering, or other related technical field, and 2+ years of experience.
Solid, comprehensive working knowledge / understanding of EH&S including related laws and regulations.
Familiarity with federal and Georgia regulatory agencies and their requirements.
Demonstrated experience in a research laboratory, biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment is a plus.
Solid organizational skills to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects.
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
Demonstrated ability to maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date records.
Ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations, as well as ability to analyze situations and provide necessary leadership on behalf of the department.
Ability to recognize hazards, drive continual improvement, and promote practical alternatives for risk reduction and risk control measures.
Strong interpersonal skills, essential in dealing with people at all levels and in a variety of functions including technical staff, site leaders, hourly personnel and be able to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
High energy and passion for excellence, bias for action, adaptability, and resilience.
Must have competencies of analytical thinking, problem solving, communication and interpersonal understanding, initiative, teamwork, as well as quality orientation/attention to detail.
Skilled in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
Must be able to carry up to 25lbs, lift up to 25lbs, push/pull up to 25lbs (with assistance of material handling equipment).
Must be able to stand and/or walk for an extended period over an 8–12-hour shift between rooms and across the site.
May require bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and/or squatting motions to perform certain tasks. In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and observing conditions in the facility.
Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body.
Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends.
No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.
Will work in a cold, wet environment
May be required to work in a confined area.
Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.

$70,000.00 - $110,000.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
